Every time one of my friends with darker tastes in anime asks for a recommendation, Higurashi is the first pick to mention.

When they ask what it's about, I refuse to tell them anything.

But I promise them something. I guarantee them something.

Me: "Watch the first 30 seconds of the first episode of the first season."
Friend: "Uhh...really? Is it that good?"
Me: "Watch the first 30 seconds and see."
Friend: "Alright, if you say so..."

The next day, they're ranting and raving with me about how awesome Higurashi is and can't wait to binge watch it.
