[@RedXCross]Nope, I think most of the time it will skip a time period, which means that between incarnations there will usually be a couple decades or centuries sometimes timeskip, so you'll be able to see your character's long term effect on the world. However, this also depends on how much effect characters have had on the world - if not much happens in an era, I'll probably lesson the reincarnation time so we get the full experience of a time period, and some long-lasting effects, before moving on. One thing I am trying to figure out however, is if a character uses their lifeforce early so dies very soon. They will be rewarded if they've done so for an amazing rp death (e.g. being the one unafraid to use some powerful skills to beat a monster that's threatening their tribe, for example), but I don't want players having to sit out a long time twiddling their thumbs. It's not so much an issue for people playing multiple characters, but i don't want people to feel forced to play multiple characters for that reason, and that has it's own issues of everyone making multiple characters and then an era being dragged out because they just make a new one everytime they die. There are a couple things I've been thinking about: A seperate short-story IC for the next era for characters who die early to tell some stories, which cuts off and then continues in the main thread with a good summary for those who didn't take part. They would be a limit on how much lifeforce can be speant in the short story IC, so you don't die by the time the first era has finished. A convuluted solution, however.. Allowing players to play human or magical creatures secondary/background characters, which I feel would add to the world and allow players to experience the setting from a different pair of eyes. When the era dwindles to around a third of characters, main events are resolved and everyone collabs together to make a summary of their remaining years of life - dice mechanics would be partially at play here (someone who's starkissed has died will be experiencing bad luck for their last years of life) so it will be a back and forth between character actions and GM rolls, that shouldn't last too long. Suggested by [@BlackPanther]: what if the character stayed in their 'spirit' or soul form while waiting for the next incarnation. They could interact with others who have died maybe try to figure out what's going on and then go to their next mortal shell. There are probably way more solutions I'm not seeing and I'd love to discuss with everyone what they would like, because it'll happen to all of us sooner or later.
