[@nitemare shape] Hey, mind taking a look over this? I finished my character, and I'd love to submit her. :)
Full Name Carmen Juan Chavana Alias Phoenix Speech Color 00aeef Character Alignment Walking the Line Identity Known, but incredibly obscure Uniform
Consists of a tactical vest, a jacket, and a hat. The clothing shown in the image below are all made of high-grade fabric, and the vest worn underneath often has bullet-resistant plates underneath that can absorb the force of most bullets and bombs. The fabric itself is resistant to lots of wear and tear, and often times can protect Carmen from the elements and most sharp objects (slashes, rather than stabs). The vest and other pouches on her gunbelt store ammunition and some equipment, such as zip-ties, flares, a small taser and a few flashbangs and smoke grenades. Her emblem also shows up in the form of patches, on her jacket, hat and vest as well. Female version, with different color pallet
Character Personality Carmen Chavana is a wise-cracking snarky smartass who works as a contractor. In short, she's the type of person who would rescue someone from a fire, but steal their valuables and shoot the arsonist in the process. She's a very empathetic and caring person towards friends and those who aren't in the game, but she has no qualms of killing an offending party, especially those who already qualify for a death sentence in almost any western civilization. While she's also brave and smart, she's also very anti-social, and prefers to be alone, or with at least one or two other people she could trust with her life. While she's made friends in a school she used to go to with other people who had super powers, she hasn't kept in touch with them after she went to Syria to fight alongside Kurdish militants against terrorists. She's also not the type to start fights, normally keeping a calm persona about her (despite cursing in spanish many times when she's mad), and never drawing her weapons or using force unless she really has to (normally in order to end the conflict as swiftly as possible). However, due to her past life as a felon, and her service in Syria, she's had a strong distrust of governments and figures of authority (the military doesn't count in her mind, she sees them as a good tool being used for the wrong problems). So while she's willing to cooperate with authority figures who have common sense, decency and will listen to any of her terms, she will not hesitate the beat the shit out of a politician or a cop who's sold out the people in favor of money or a criminal element. Origin Info/Details Carmen Chavana was born under Rosa Chavana and Paco Gamero, who returned from Navy service onboard the USS Constellation shortly before her birth. When Carmen was 2 years old, Paco, who was still in a relationship with Rosa at the time, moved with his girlfriend and daughter to New York, as he had a friend that worked at the Trump Tower in New York City, offering him a high-paying job there. There, for most of her life, she grew up in New York City. However, when she was 7, the relationship between her parents was getting strained after her father was demoted, and from then she grew up under a drunk mother and an abusive father. Due to the nature of her family and the abuse that her mother and Carmen herself experienced from her father, she remained rather secluded and never had a chance to experience her powers (other than some instances of dodging her father's blows in some moments of slow motion, but she thought that was normal and told no one about that). Her mother left Paco when Carmen was 12, though when they moved they moved into a small hispanic ghetto in the suburbs of NYC, where Rosa was able to easily purchase illegal drugs from one of the gangs that dominated the neighboorhood, as well as get "protection" in exchange, for... well... "services". Carmen, who was going to school (a rather terribly funded one at that), heard about the various gangs that ruled the area, and heard about all of the cool stuff about them that her peers talked to her about. Wanting a better life for herself, she ran away from home and hung out with one of the local hispanic gangs that ruled the area. She was thrown into her first fight, where she had to prove her worth to the gang by fighting one of its biggest members. This is when she first learned about how special her ability was, and how she could use its advantages. Using her quick reflexes, she was able to dodge most of the man's punches and throw some of her own, and even though he didn't go down that easily, the other members were impressed and recruited her into the gang, seeing how useful she was. From that point on, she has grown up under a false family, though some of the gang members did treat her with the love and respect of other siblings. However, when she was older, she went on a crime spree with other members, robbing stores and rival gangs. She was never caught by the police, and never identified by any of her victims. However, it wasn't until she was 17 that she found out about a child molester living in her neighboorhood, and after finding horrifying evidence when robbing his home of such acts, she murdered the man responsible when he returned home, and protected children he kidnapped until the police arrived. When the police arrived, she surrendered peacefully to them, and she was arrested and imprisoned as a result. This was her first (and since then her last) kill, and when she took the shot, she never regretted doing that since. She was given a short sentence given the circumstances. Her sentence lasted for four years, and in that time she learned to be tougher, stronger, and studied. Carmen was released from prison when she turned 21 after a few transfers and good behavior. She was originally on parole, but with some connections she was able to let the cops turn a blind eye to her. Hearing about a certain school that helps teach their students how to keep in touch with themselves and their powers, she went there as a life mission to improve herself... somewhat. As part of her transformation, however, she had the tattoo of the Pheonix and Aries ash debri marks done in order to symbolize that she has risen from the ashes, born as a new, free bird. And during her time at school, she has become more in-tune with her powers, and has improved her vocabulary (though she does have her bouts of "thuggish" about her). In the process of attending school, however, she created a crime group known as the "Hudson Syndicate", which consisted of many of her friends that often performed various heists around Upstate New York. AS a result of many of these heists, Carmen had soon gained access to a whole lot of resources. After attending school, however, she travelled to Syria to fight alongside the SDF militias in their struggle against the Islamic State, mainly to do both humanitarian work and to fight terrorists. She was with the SDF for at least six months, and she returned home with a whole lot of stories, experience, and some perspective... as well as a new friend who travels at her side almost everywhere. After returning to New York, she had her right-hand man Kevin form a contractor firm in order to fork in some more cash and give their group more legal legitimacy, the small group of contractors known only as Hudson Tactical. And fast forward to now, where Carmen and Hakeem are both working as a private contractors, both of whom are willing to arrest thieves, kill terrorists, kidnap crooked cops and rescue hostages, for a price. She sees everything in slow motion, to the point where she could see bullets (they are moving insanely fast but she could still see them). This timing allows her to perform all kinds of things with the most insane reflexes, as well as perform and time everything correctly. Proper parkour, aiming a gun, bobbing and weaving in fistfightts, driving a vehicle, defusing bombs, it has all sorts of applications, which allow her to do all of these things with insane precision and accuracy, as well with great speed. A few good examples of such feats could be examined here, here, here and here. Passive Powers Enhanced Senses Comes with the ability of fast reflexes, this allows her to see farther and clearer than most, hear things from a distance and tune her hearing, and smell things a little better than most humans can. This allows her to detect threats and clues most other humans cannot do.
Attributes Height: 5'8" Weight: 180 lbs. Weapons Carmen herself has access to a wide variety of weapons, as they are often either stored in various Hudson Tactical safehouses or the vehicles she drives. Almost all of the time, she carries a FNX-45 Tactical with her, and depending on the scenario, she could either be armed with a Remington R5 RGP rifle, a Remington 870 shotgun, or a Remington MSR Sniper Rifle, complete with various ammunition types for them, both lethal and non-lethal. She also has access to a wide variety of non-lethal explosives, including but not limited to breaching charges, flashbangs and smoke grenades. Vehicles Most of the vehicles that the firm have possession of are normally Fords, whether they be black Econoline vans, lifted Ford Explorer Sport Tracs outfitted with bullet-resistant plating and tires, and Ford Crown Victorias with LED strobe lights. Carmen, on the other hand, is typically found driving around in an innocuous Jeep Cherokee with Hakeem. The SUV itself has the various equipment that both Carmen or Hakeem might need should the need arise, and Carmen had the vehicle itself overhauled for it to run like new. They also own a helicopter.
Weaknesses Just as human as anyone else, she cannot dodge bullets or any other fast-moving projectiles Cannot dodge blows thrown from extremely close quarters (as she can only move out of the way so much before she's hit) Would not shoot noncombatants (though hostage takers who have their head on display will still not live for very long) Still soft and squishy enough to kill if grabbed and thrown, hence when on-duty she normally wears armor under her jacket Supporting Characters
These are some of the main folks in Hudson Tactical that will probably come to Carmen's aid if need be. Hakeem, codenamed "Magnum", is her partner, and often travels with her.
Hakeem Ansari
"Magnum" 29, Male Telekinetic Burst - Armed Carmen met Hakeem during her tour in Syria, where he was a fighter in the Syrian Democratic Forces as part of a smaller Arab militia that fought with the Kurds against ISIS. Hakeem was a well-educated gentleman who grew up in Syria and studied in both Iraq and Egypt. However, while he was one of the very few superpowered people in the SDF that fought against ISIS, for most of his life he has kept his telekinetic abilities hidden in fear of persecution, and still has much to learn regarding them. After the incidents of Season 1, most of the fighting in Syria has died down, and the Kurds were looking victorious, on their way to Raqqa. Carmen invited Hakeem and a few others to come with her to New York to do work and have fun, and while Hakeem gladly accepted, the others turned down the offer, citing their need to help with rebuilding. While Hakeem is relatively new to American culture, he's learned a bit from Carmen during the war, with their friendship forged in the fires of war. Now Hakeem works as Carmen's partner under Hudson Tactical, and the two perform almost every duty together as a team, and travel together. He dresses up in a similar uniform to that of Carmen's, and wears his own patches and carries his own weapons. The Para-Ordnance Black Ops pistol is probably the only weapon he carries, as he uses his other hand to augment the telekinetic bursts he releases in combat. [sub]FC: Sammy Sheik[/sub]
Kevante Covington
"Boss" 36, Male Powerless - Armed A good friend of Carmen's ever since she moved to New York. Having lived in the same neighboorhood, they've hung out many times, to the point where Kevante was periodically in Carmen's gang. While 99% of their friendship consists of slinging insults at each other, most of their bond is unspoken, and there are way too many times to count where they have save each other's asses and pulled them out of the fire. They've even bailed each other out of jail a few times. While Carmen was in prison, Kevante spent a whole lot of time learning how to be a proper criminal and how to be a good shooter, and by the time she got out, they were quite a dynamic duo. However, when Carmen went to Syria, he started to run things, and once she returned, he became the head of Hudson Tactical. He now runs all operations, and does them all behind the scenes as well... planning things out and bringing in the cash. [sub]FC: Morris Chestnut[/sub]
Sukaina Bashara
"Lightning" 28, Female Detect Electric/Energy Currents - Armed Carmen's prison cellmate, Sukaina was arrested for embezzlement and hijacking Fox News signals. While she was accused of terrorism-related activity and such (with her Arab background and all), she was tried for her real crimes and given a short prison sentence. Both she and carmen got along quickly in prison, and became good friends along the way. Carmen learned of her hacking skills, and convinced Sukaina to join her and Kevante in her little group of friends. She still performs that role, even under Hudson Tactical. Nowadays, Sukaina does most of the "electronic warfare" when it comes to things, whether it would be hacking, surveillance or other stuff. She's also a huge geek, and is officially Kevante's secretary. [sub]FC: Raylane Rayssa[/sub]
Hudson Tactical Contractors
Male, Female, Human Powerless - Armed Various contractors recruited from all around the world, and from Carmen's old gang. Right now, the size of the group is in the low double digits, and while they are somewhat experienced and somewhat trained, the firm itself is still somewhat in its infancy. The contractors are made up of many ethnic backgrounds, and while most are male, a few females are found in the mix as well. None of them have any special powers, though they have lots of skill and ability in various forms of fighting and apprehending targets, as well as various forms of warfare. Over time, the size of the group, and the skill of its operators will grow. [sub]FC: Unknown PMCs... Blackwater Maybe? Stuck behind a few dirt hills, the soldiers, composed of a bunch of Arabs and Kurds, as well as one international volunteer, held their position at the hill, using the terrain as cover until further orders were given. So far no shot has been fired, as the Ilamic State has quite a few jihadis stationed up in the complex, with a sniper or two on top of the roof. The good guys, on the other hand, only had a handful of soldiers up on the dirt hill, holding their position for a surprise attack. The international volunteer who went by the name of Carmen Chavana, was dug up with the other fighters, aiming down the sights of an older Nagant Rifle that she purchased, rather than using the AKM issued to her by the YPG. Laying down next to her was Hakeem, an Arab who was with the SDF, and one of the very few who spoke English and Arabic, as well as a little Kurdish. Both of them were looking for targets, and looking for ways in. The sun blazed hot on everyone, even as Hakeem aimed down the scope of the SVD issued to him. "Do you see anyone? Bad guys? Civilians?" Carmen asked Hakeem quietly. "A few, but they are in the windows." Hakeem said, his accent a little heavy. "I saw a sniper a few minutes ago, but he walked away from the edge of the building." "Where did you last see him?" Carmen asked. "Up there, in the middle." Hakeem pointed in the said direction. "He should return soon, unless he went inside." "Here... hand me the rifle. Once they give the order, I can take out all that are visible. Just watch." Hakeem nodded. "Here." He took off the strap that the SVD rifle and handed the rifle to Carmen, who happily took it and aimed down the scope. "Trade?" "Sure thing, hermano." Carmen said with a soft smile, handing her Nagant to him. "You better take this too." She said, handing her M1911 to him. "Don't lose it, it's my favorite." She grinned. "I won't, I promise." Hakeem holstered it. "Promises are clouds, fulfillment is rain." Carmen sighed, aiming down the scope, searching for targets. "Hey, I thought only I was supposed to use Arab proverbs!" Hakeem playfully punched Carmen on the shoulder, to which Carmen chuckled. "Should I be going all like Yo yo yo... wassup homie-" "Sssshh!" One of the SDF soldiers hushed. "Rehet! Dijmin bibe hûn dibihîzin bibihîzin!" She warned, telling Hakeem to pipe it down, else the enemy might discover their location. "Bibore!" Hakeem whispered back. "You're gonna be the death of me, I swear." He whispered to Carmen. "I think that's a good thing. That means I'm the only one who could kill you." Carmen said with a grin. "But since you are with the good guys, I'm gonna give you a pass... for now." "Pfft." Hakeem chuckled a little, before hearing the radio on the commander go off. "Sshh... I think that's the Brigade Commander." After the orders on the radio were given, the commander of the group looked to the others. "Em bi barkirina derveyî! Hakeem, Carmen, hûn ê ne salekî agir bi tetîkkêşên. Hûn dê çeperên dijmin ji me re bibêjin." The commander explained. "Her kesê din, divê bêdeng bimînin bi rê ve ji avahiyên! Zû!" Carmen looked to Hakeem for a translation. "She said that we're to stay here and cover them with the sniper rifles, as well as relay enemy positions to them. They'll be moving to the buildings." Hakeem said. Carmen nodded. "Roger that." She said before looking down the scope. Seeing how there was barely anyone looking outside, and the security cameras were mostly busted, she gave a thumbs up to the commander. Immediately, the group of soldiers hopped over the dirt hill and ran quietly through no-man's land. And while their mostly green uniforms sharply contrasted with the bright dirt and sand, with them being lightly armed with only AKs and M-16s, their speed and silence almost made them ninja-like. They ran as a group, running for the walls that surrounded the building, to use them as cover before entering it. Surprisingly, no shots were fired, and the Islamic State jihadis guarding the complex were none the wiser. Once the soldiers moved up to the walls and stacked up, the commander turned to the direction of where Hakeem and Carmen were at. While Carmen didn't understand a lick of Kurdish or Arabic, she understood hand signals. And the one she gave was to engage at will. "Copy that." Carmen muttered with a grin. Aiming her crosshairs over a window, she saw an ISIS fighter walking towards it, from a clear vantage point to discover the SDF soldiers on the ground. This is when Carmen entered Reflex Mode. Carmen squinted her eyes, and time slowed to a crawl. A very slow crawl. Everyone appeared to be still almost, and Carmen's own subtle movements were clearly visible to herself. As she was in bullet time, she aimed the crosshairs at the Islamic State jihadi that was just about to look out the window. He was difficult to see, as the scope didn't go that far, but with Carmen's enhanced senses and ability to correct, she was able to clearly see him. She aimed the rifle at the wall next to him, and pulled the trigger. *DEEEAAAAAOOOWWWWW!!!* The loud bang of the SVD sniper rifle cracked through the air, and the gun shook in Carmen's hand. She watched as the bullet she fired flung insanely fast from her barrel and at the wall she fired at. As the gun slowly cycled the next round, she watched as the bullet made a hole in the wall. She saw where it went, it went below the crosshair a little, and a little to the left. Making the proper adjustements, she moved the crosshair to where the bullet fired from last time would be on the Jihadi's head. The jihadi was just reacting to the shot, his eyes widening and his head slowly turning to where the bullet impacted against the wall. Just as he was about to turn his head to where he heard the shot rung, Carmen pulled the trigger. *DEEEAAAAAOOOWWWWW!!!* She watched as the supersonic blaze of light flew downrange, and slowly drop... drop right into the head of the surprised jihadi. His head exploded somewhat, making quite a slow-motion mess that one could equate to a front quarter of a watermelon exploding. While it was disturbing to most people, Carmen found it satisfying... these people that she shot lost their rights to be called human beings. They were monsters that tortured, beheaded and raped innocent men, women and children, and were a plaguing threat to civilizations that surrounded it. The only good ISIS jihadi was a dead one. Bringing herself out of reflex mode, Carmen smirked a little as the SDF soldiers ran to the building and used that as cover. Hakeem, on the other hand, saw that with his binoculars, and was quite impressed. "Woah... nice shot!" Hakeem chuckled. "Maybe you should keep that rifle... you're much better with it than I am." "No man, I just used cheats. I've seen you get plenty of them fair and square." Carmen said with a soft smile. "Go ahead and relay the enemy positions to the guys and gals on the ground. I'm gonna wait for them all to show themselves... I want you to get a mag ready for me." Hakeem nodded. "You got it." He said, pulling out two magazines for the SVD rifle. Carmen waited as the jihadis showed themselves, looking for the sniper that fired at them. A few snipers were trying to get up to the roof, while others were looking out the windows. There were around twelve of them that showed themselves, and more are probably on their way. Carmen grinned, and entered reflex mode again. From Hakeem's standpoint, all he could see is Carmen move at an insanely fast speed, landing headshots on one jihadi at a time at a rapid pace. BOOM! One down. BOOM! Two down. BOOM! Three down. BOOM! Four down. It was almost... superhuman, around four down in two seconds! She continued to do this until her magazine was empty, to which she quickly reloaded and went to killing more. In ten seconds, all of the jihadis that bothered to poke their heads out were all killed. "Holy mother... fuck..." Hakeem watched in amazement. "I knew you were good... but... you must've been blessed by God himself!" "Eh... I think so too, but... you'll get used to it." Carmen shrugged, waiting for others to show up, whether they would be piling out from the building to respond to the attack, or to check on the dead. After that whole ordeal, the SDF soldiers on the ground breached open the front doors, and revealed a few jihadis that Carmen promptly shot dead. Hakeem watched as Carmen gunned everyone that was a hostile down, shooting them all in the head. "What's the point of me marking targets... if you're gonna kill them all?" He asked with an amazed chuckle. Carmen shrugged. "Point taken..." She thought. "This is my first time doing this, to be honest with you! Up until now, I've been fighting with the damned Nagant!" She laughed. Hakeem nodded, stunned. "Yeah... that might explain it. Is that like your... superpower or something?" He asked, slowly coming to a realization. Carmen considered answering him, thinking about the consequences of telling the truth. Would he persecute her? Try to kill her? Or would he want to stick around with her as a new best friend? She didn't know, but she just wanted to make sure. "Uh... can you keep a secret?" She asked as she reloaded the SVD with a fresh clip. Hakeem nodded. "Of course." She said with a soft grin. "They still don't know you think their dancing is shit." Carmen sighed. "I know, it's just that..." She looked to Hakeem's left. Her enhanced senses, while she did pick up gunfire and shouts from afar, she did pick up the sound of an engine, the engine of a truck. She looked intensely, and in reflex mode, she was able to make out the truck from below the hill. As it drove up the hill, she saw that it was being driven by ISIS, and that the truck was a large one... one that was just about to squash them! It was barreling down on them, and Carmen didn't have enough time to move herself and Hakeem out of the way. At this moment, she truly thought she was going to die. She shouted while in reflex mode. "LOOK OUT!!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. Hakeem, who then heard Carmen's shout, immediately realized that there was indeed a large something heading his way. Turning his head to where Carmen was looking at, Hakeem immediately saw the truck heading right towards them, about to run them over. In almost an instant, his eyes glowed a bright green and he threw his arm up. As soon as he did, a low bassy BOOOMMMM sounded, and a massive wave of force shot up from the sand in front of them and beneath the truck, throwing the few-ton vehicle up and away from them, and down the hill. Carmen watched in utter shock as the truck tumbled down the hill, crumbling up before settling down at the bottom of the hill as a complete wreck. Carmen looked at the wreck below them, and looked to Hakeem. "Is that like... your... superpower or something?" Carmen asked, shocked. Hakeem sighed before looking to Carmen. "Uh... can you keep a secret?" He asked, a little anxious. Carmen slowly nodded. "Damn..." She looked back down to the wreck. "We're so gonna have a talk about this once we capture this complex..."
