Clyde continually looked to where Abbie sat and sighed with loneliness. It had only been a few days since his closest friend had moved and it was painful readjusting to life. Every morning he had expected Abbie waiting for him in his kitchen playing with his little sister. Even after school he waited for the girl who will never show, but more so from habit than anything else. It was a habit that will be hard to break, and it was a little bit heart breaking knowing he would not be seeing that gal come sauntering by. It was incredibly embarrassing when he helped Abbie move from her home. He couldn't stop himself from bear hugging the poor gal, nearly suffocating her in his chest, and crying uncontrollably. She had to punch him a few times to get Clyde to let go, and even then, Clyde was still trying to get a hold on his sobbing. He could still feel the gal patting his head telling him not to worry and to enjoy life as best as he could (plus a little encouragement on his blossoming love). Just thinking about it made his stomach feel heavy. It was Friday and the only thing on his mind was finishing his homework early so he could head off to the community center. Thoughts of the science fair came to mind and immediately Clyde regretted thinking about his future project. He did not know anyone in his group and his heart began to race. There were two females in his group, two guys he was not familiar with, and Jacob McKinnon of all people. He twiddled with his thumbs for a moment imagining the kind of torment he would have to sit through. “It'll be alright,” thought Clyde. “Contribute what ya' can 'n keep ya' head down.” Clyde rested his head against his arms on his desk and waited patiently for the day to be over. Hitting the punching bag always calmed his nerves.
