After some time watching the water types play, one of the Oshawatts noticed him and came over to where he was sitting, tugging on his pant leg to join them. "Oshawatt! Osha, osha!" Chuckling, Tommy stood and walked over with the little water type to the edge of the river, kneeling down as the other water types finally took notice of him. Of course, the Froakie immediately rushed over along with several other water types and the water war began. Ducking a water gun, Tommy splashes it's owner in return, surprising the Squirtle as he laughs. However, the young man quickly wishes he'd brought his water gun as being stuck by the river's edge put him at a disadvantage to the water types who could move on land. They quickly took to ducking and weaving and hiding behind things to avoid the young man's splashes of water, but it was still all fun and games. After several minutes, with Tommy ending up pretty wet, one of the Froakie hopped up on his shoulder and took to aiding him, squirting water back at Tommy's assailants while he took to avoiding it. Eventually though, the Pokemon noticed the Pokeball on his hip and a curious Piplup pointed it out. "Piplup pip?" Following it's pointing flipper, he sighs and pulls it off his belt, allowing it to grow. "Well, guess I couldn't put it off forever." Sitting down, the young man calls pops the ball open and closed several times before continuing. "You see, today I start my Pokemon journey, but I need to catch a Pokemon to become the first of my new companions and, well," he looks at the Froakie who was still on his shoulder and the others who had gathered around, "I was hoping one of the Froakie would join me. Not that I don't want to take all of you, but right now, I can only pick one." Immediately the Froakie on his shoulder jumped down an pointed at herself. "Froakie, Froak. Froakie." Tommy chuckles and looks at the others, who nod vervently in agreement and Tommy smiles. "Well alright then. Froakie, I choose you!" Standing, he throws the Pokeball at the little Froakie, watching it disappear into a beam of light. With a snap, the ball shuts and the center of the button glows red as it wiggles back and forth for several seconds before dinging that the Pokemon was caught. Retrieving it, Tommy smiles and looks at his Pokemon friends. "Well, I guess this is it. My journey's begun."
