Don't feel too bad, Akane isn't useless considering she is supposed to be a renowned demon slayed and Hanami isn't all that special either. 

I view this as an anime lol, and the way things are happening I could definitely see it happening. Reminds me of Inuyasha really. >.> I would say if this really WERE an anime it would be like, episode 2 or 3..
