Leisy Takigawa
Leisy couldn’t help the grin on her face as she practically skipped down the stairs of the last of the city steps, finally planting both feet on the dirt path leading outside the city and into the forest for the first time. She’d always been warned to not step out of the city without adult supervision. It’d always been “too dangerous” with the wild pokemon roaming about, especially at night, but today was different. Today, Leisy had a pokeball. I wonder what pokemon I’ll see? Leisy thought, thumbing the pokedex her parents had gotten for her. It was a custom-colored black-on-white model, and Leisy instantly fell in love with it. She was just about to put the pokedex away when a bush to her left rustled, causing her to jump. Oh my— A caterpie crawled out unceremoniously from under the bush, slowly inching its way across the path. Leisy’s eyes widened, and she slowly turned and faced the pokemon, opening her pokedex.
Ding! Caterpie, the Worm Pokémon. To repel enemies, Caterpie releases an unpleasant odor from its red antenna. It molts several times while growing.
By the time Leisy looked back down to where the green and yellow caterpillar had been, it was gone. She groaned internally. Of course it’s gone! The pokedex is set to read every entry out loud. Let’s see, Leisy thought, scrolling through the white-colored device’s menu. Done. Voice options off. The girl frowned, looking at the bushes through which the caterpie had presumably left. I think I ought to invest in a camera instead. Shrugging, the black-haired girl continued along the path down towards the deeper area of the forest. She’d have time to find the right pokemon—a pokemon that she felt a kindred spirit with. One that spoke to her without a single word exchanged between them.
[@Balthazar007]
