Figuring out what kind of music got the best reaction, the trainer-to-be varied her rhythm several times. This energetic Pokemon seemed to prefer faster songs. Cici strummed her way through one that the few crowds she'd played to had particularly liked. The song brought back memories of old friends and happy times, of shouts and arguments, of faces she knew well yet were somehow like those of strangers. Her voice wavered as she sang the familiar lyrics. She couldn't stay stuck in the past, she reminded herself. This was a new start. Finishing the song and putting away her guitar, she took one of her new items, her Pokedex, and tried it out. "Whismur, the Whisper Pokemon," it informed her. "Usually, its cries are like quiet murmurs. If frightened, it shrieks at the same volume as a jet plane." Looking up at her, the Whismur let out more murmurs, plaintive ones this time. It pointed one of its stubby arms at the guitar. "You want to hear more?" Taking the guitar from the case, Cici started strumming again. She thought of the other item she'd received besides the Pokedex - one Pokeball, one chance to catch her starter. Could this Whismur be the first to accompany her on her journey? "Hey," she said. "Want to come along with me?" She stopped playing again, took out the Pokeball and waited for the Pokemon's reaction, half-expecting it to run away. Instead, the Whismur slowly approached and tapped at the Pokeball. The capsule opened, and in a burst of light, the Whismur disappeared into it. Cici stared at the Pokeball for a few moments. That had been much easier than she'd thought. "I... I did it," she muttered. "I did it!"
