Leisy Takigawa
Halfway through their trek back to Central City, Leisy opened another granola bar, breaking half off for Bridein. ”Here you go, Bridein,” the girl said, holding the piece out for the robin that was resting on her shoulder. Bridein took it, cocking his head inquiringly as he held it under a foot. Leisy laughed, pulling another foiled bar out from her bag. "I've got plenty, Bridein. Dein. Dei," Leisy said, testing the name on her tongue as she looked at the Fletchling. "How do you like 'Dei' for a nickname?" Bridein gave his feathers a ruffle that puffed them out, making him look like a fluffy hedgehog. Leisy laughed. "Let's get going then, Dei," she said, fixing the backpack's straps on her shoulder as the bird clung onto her. "I can't wait for you to see Central City." The trek took a few hours, but Bridein took her mind off the time, filling the silence with quiet coos and clicks. The Fletchling was rarely quiet with Leisy alone, but when other pokemon approached he went silent, eyeing them warily out of the corner of his eye. His opinions of various pokemon were expressed through his own language: short, succinct chatters for approval and long, slow ones for dislike. A ruffle of his feathers meant that he either didn't like or wasn't familiar with the pokemon species. This he reserved for the odd bagworm pokemon—Burmy, according to Leisy’s pokedex—that dropped out of the trees suddenly, surprising both Bridein and Leisy as it dangled innocently on a string, staring at the pair with its unblinking, yellow eyes. Soon enough, Leisy could make out the tips of the city over the treetops, and she was both excited and elated to be returning. ”Look Bridein! That’s Central City’s Poke Corp building. It’s the biggest in the area, and people often travel from far away to buy supplies,” Leisy explained excitedly to her pokemon. The Fletchling studied the big glass-paned building with narrowed eyes. ”You wanna go in and see it?” Bridein chattered his beak, and Leisy grinned. ”Let’s hurry up then!” she told her pokemon enthusiastically as she broke into a run. The Fletchling lost his balance on her shoulder for a moment before recovering, shooting off from his perch and flying at a comfortable height over Leisy’s head. The girl looked up to the pokemon with a grin.”Race you there!” Bridein was unimpressed by his trainer’s below-pokemon-average running speed, but he deigned to humor her, flying at a slow pace to act as if she had a chance.
