What level of technology are we talking about here?  What kind of resources do we have access to?

Are there any governments or other organizations, factions that exist, or has society devolved into nomadic groups just trying to not dies?

Is the infection still a direct threat in itself, or is it just the repercussions of it's outbreak a year ago with which we have to cope?
