We call them gods out of fear of what we still don’t understand about them, but what we are certain of is that if they continue on their path of destruction, humanity is doomed. For all of our advancements in the art of killing one another, we were barely able to slow them down. But there is hope, for today marks the birth of the first of many weapons that we will use to turn the tide in this war. They may simply appear to be children right now, but in time they will grow to become our saviors, our Godslayers. I do not claim to know all of this will turn out, but I fear we will not get another chance after this.
-From the journal of Raymond Verner, head researcher of the Godslayer Project

The Story

Not too far into the future, a woman fell from the sky and landed, unharmed, in a busy street. This peculiar event was quickly covered up by the government and the strange woman was taken to a facility to be studied. Such a thing should have been lost to history as one of the many things in this world that would go unexplained. That is, until the sky opened up and creatures straight out of nightmares started leveling entire cities. Bullets and artillery quickly proved useless against this new threat and as they marched on, humanity could only think of one name for these beings that brought down perdition: Gods. The mysterious girl that heralded this new threat would prove to be the key to the last hope humanity could cling to. Preliminary examination revealed that she was clearly not human and her catatonic state had nothing to do with her entrance to our world. And as they studied her more, it became apparent that not only was she not from our world, she seemed to defy everything we knew about science. Traces of powers and abilities that man had only been able to imagine manifested themselves in the girl from time to time. One of these incidents gave a scientist a close brush with death and a dangerous idea. This man, Raymond Verner, theorized that this woman was not only connected to the Gods that were destroying civilization, but that she was also the answer to them. By using in vitro fertilization with one of her eggs, a new breed of weapon was born. Godslayers, as the researchers took to calling them, for their design and purpose was singular in that one regard. From birth, they were given enhancements to make them proficient at fighting humanity’s greatest foe. And as they aged, their training was nonstop as scientists worked day and night to perfect them. It has been 15 years since the Gods first arrived. And now, the fate of what is left of humanity is in their hands. Will they be our saviors? Or is humanity simply destined to be wiped from the face of this world?

Gods and Their Slayers

Although they are referred to as Gods, the creatures that have all but annihilated the human race bear no real similarities to the mythical gods of old. Yet, the name stuck so they are given designations based on their attributes. Above is Agni, for his flames have swallowed entire cities and left not even ash in their wake. But it has been quite some time since Agni, or any god for that matter, have shown themselves. Instead, they send their Fiends, creatures that are imbued with a portion of their power and are similarly named after mythical monsters, out to end humanity. Nobody is certain where exactly the Gods are hiding, but it is theorized that if enough of a God’s Fiends are slain, the God will reveal themselves. That’s where the Godslayers come in. Due to the impossibly durable nature of both the Gods and Fiends, modern weapons have little effect on them. But with their enhancements, abilities, and top of the line weapons, Godslayers are the one force able to effectively put these monstrosities down. Each one has a black roman numeral tattooed somewhere on their body, signifying their status as a Godslayer and to show the order they were born in. For reasons the scientists are still unable to explain, the first generation, those numbered I through IX, are stronger than the subsequent generations. Missions come in two flavors: Scouting and Slaying. The former is only done in cases that those in command are either unsure of what threat is present or if they have never seen it before. Often, these missions are made up of small squads of Godslayers with abilities that are less combat oriented and are trained to get in and get out of an area quickly. Slaying missions are the bulk of what the Godslayers take part in and as the name implies, involves hunting down Gods and their Fiends. Since they have arrived, no country has been able to take down a God. When not on missions, Godslayers will be housed at the project’s headquarters, which is surrounded by mountains and located so far off the grid that civilization cannot be found for miles. Slayer HQ provides a nearly uncountable number of facilities for training, but offers very little for leisure. The inside of the facility is state of the art, but not particularly inviting, but it is the only thing the Godslayer’s have had to associate with home.

The Rules

On top of the standard Guild rules, I am only asking for you folks to follow these two broad rules: 1) The Rule of Cool: This is going to be a very over the top RP, with our characters eventually taking down monstrous beings that can be equated to gods. Naturally, that means our characters are going to be doing things that throws logic out the window and enters the realm of the impossible. I am quite willing to overlook things that seem to go against what has been previously been established if it makes out end result cooler and/or more fun for everyone. With that said though, I do not want to see a story where our characters are easily toppling everything in their path in one hit, as that just sounds awfully anticlimactic. Basically, let’s all do our best to keep this RP fun and interesting. 2) The Bill and Ted Addendum: In short, this rule can be summed up as, “Be excellent to each other.” I fully expect some of our characters to butt heads in the IC, but I would hate to see that spill over into the OOC. If any problems arises between you and another player, please come to me or a Co-GM so we can sort things out peacefully. This rule also applies to be excellent to each other in character as well, so no autohitting, no godmodding, and especially no killing other player’s character without their express permission. Also, we have plenty of players, so please wait a minimum of three IC posts before going again.

Name: This isn't something that you are given during your creation, you are just a weapon after all. Though, we believe that having one will help you feel a little more human and individualized, as opposed to being called by a number for the rest of your existence. So what would you have us call you? Feel free to include a nickname(s)/alias Gender: Age: Due to the overwhelming need to destroy Gods, your age depends on what “batch” you were made in. Those numbered 1-100 would be 15 at the start of the roleplay, those 101-200 14, and 201-255 13. Appearance: We won't all come from the same male donor, so we don't all look the same like storm troopers. Also, be sure to include where your number is located (Anime picture/ words/ or both) Number: Were you created first or 255th Rank: (F-SSS) This is the ranking the scientists have given to you based on how lethal/destructive your character is. Rank F is usually reserved for those that have few, if any, enhancements and have not unlocked their Ability yet. Consequently, those with a ranking of SSS are so unbelievably powerful that their powers only see the light of day when leveling everything in a 10 mile radius is preferable to the alternative. *At the start of the RP, B is the highest rank any Godslayer can have. This is largely due to the power limiters we are wearing, so expect these rankings to change as the RP goes on. Personality: Tell us what you're like. How do you feel about just being used as a weapon for the government or even the fact that you have yet to experience the outside world? Do they have any positive relationships with the scientists or their half-siblings? Likes/Dislikes: Enhancement(s): Were you created with more strength than an average Godslayer, maybe even greater marksmanship? Weapon(s): (optional) Do you run into the battlefield slicing and dicing or what? If you just rely on a special ability you can skip this. Ability: Do you have lighting fists, control fire, telekinetic powers, etc?

[@Guilty Spark] [@Nanjue] [@Rune_Alchemist] [@DeathXtheXTree] [@Ashevelendar] [@Kyrisse] [@Sarcelle Renard] [@UberBlutwurst] [@LokiLeo789] [@Doltboy] [@Holy Soldier] [@sakurasan] [@HaltingBlooper] [@Shadow Daedalus] [@EnterTheHero] [@Helter Skelter] [@SilverDawn] [@Thecrash20]
