So I'll keep everything simple. We'll forego the classification of magic with Hatsudo, Henkei and Igyo. We'll be using the 6 properties listed below but will no longer use the numbers I assigned earlier. Instead, we'll just be using a concept regarding affinity of magical properties based on your core type. Magic from all parts of the body has a tendency to flow together, producing one mass of energy. This happens without the individual's awareness, typically resulting in a slow leak of magic continually escaping the body. However, there are a select few who are capable of expressing their magical energies which, in essence, allows them to create a special and unique ability. There are six types of magical energy; every individual is born having one of these six different magic types. [List][*][b][color=ed1c24]Enhancement[/color][/b] refers to the use of magic to increase the natural abilities of an object or one's own body. [*][b][color=f26522]Transmutation[/color][/b] allows users to change the properties of their magical energy to mimic something else. [*][b][color=39b54a]Conjuration[/color][/b] on the other hand, grants the ability to create a physical, independent, material objects out of one's own magical energies. [*][b][color=00aeef]Liberation[/color][/b] deals with the controlling and deployment of their magical energy while separating it from their body. And lastly, [*][b][color=92278f]Manipulation[/color][/b] allows the control of living or non-living things in certain ways depending on the conditions and means set by the user. [*][b][color=aba000]Specialization[/color][/b] is any magic that doesn't belong into the other five categories, being referred to as the vaguest of all types of magic.[/List] Most abilities are based on one's individual magic type. Though it is possible for one to develop abilities outside of his primary magic type, one is typically less proficient at using those abilities. By creating an ability that one isn't suited for, one risks stagnating their potential by overloading their capacity for using magical energy. [CENTER][img]http://i.imgur.com/Szjtggw.png[/img][/CENTER] There will be approximations to indicate just exactly how efficient one would be at using their magical abilities that one is not born into. Starting at one's own aura type, one has the potential to be 100% efficient at using abilities based in that category alone. Then looking at the category chart above, one has the potential to be 80% efficient at using aura types adjacent to one's primary type, 40% efficient at the opposite or farthest category, and 60% efficient in the two remaining categories. Specialization is typically unusable for non-Specialists because it is impossible to partially use; one either can or cannot use Specialist abilities. However, Conjurers and Manipulators have 1% efficiency potential of becoming Specialists due to being adjacent to it. [/HIDER] Here's the new magic section in the character application form. My issue with it is its strength. Its incredibly strong for what it is. You'll be significantly slower when it comes to progress of your abilities. I'd suggest you tone it down a bit, but that would probably change a lot of his history. I'm willing to discuss and reach a compromise. [@hagroden] I enjoyed the read. Appricieted the amount of detail you included. Just remember to ibvlude a tid bit on his invitation to the school. Demon Arms is an acceptable ability. Since they were described to have covered Nihiri's arms, I'm thinking they're more of gear than a transformation? If so, given the new system that we're going to be using, it'll be conjuration. [@Nanashi Ninanai] Love her background, but her ability needs to be tweaked a bit. As its base form, as in what you'll be starting with, would be short range teleportation that would require physical contact on a surface to initiate it. The distance would be limited for now, to a few meters and her field of vision. Would that be alright? [@Menhir] Not much to say about her. Just wondering, what are you planning for her in terms of progression? Also, still thinking about that trained hawk thing. [@Crimmy] Pretty simple, but we need to discuss his ability. I like it, but it seems kind of over powered in its current form. Verbal commands lack the visual medium that I look for in all abilities; there should be a way to balance this. The first thing that pops up into my head would be Subhash's words are manifested as actual visible text in the form of magic. It would be tangible and he could stick or launch it towards its target. So if he said something like "Strong Blow" and put it on his arm, it would result in a devastating punch. However, he should be specific with his choice of words as these may work against him. How's that? [@Letter Bee] I have no problem with most of the contents of the application form. Now, let's talk about his magic. Wellspring seems balanced, so I won't be commenting on that. Fundamental Siphon, however, is something totally different. I don't mind Mikhail being able to absorb magical energy from spells, but he wouldn't be able to nullify or significantly weaken it. That's the price he has to pay for absorbing magical energy would be his body; he has to take the brunt of the spell before or while absorbing. Aside from that, we won't be using time or distant restraints since those don't translate well in text-based roleplays. You alright with that? [@Masaki Haruna] Regarding the need for a Co-GM, for now, I think I'll avoid searching for one. It'll be difficult for me to accurately convey my thoughts and ideas of the RP to someone else and expect them to moderate IC post content and answer questions that would relate to the setting we're using. I think it would be quite confusing for them and I wouldn't want to be put in a position when I'd need to veto the decision of the Co-GM regarding a certain topic or issue just because we had trouble in discussing the details regarding the RP. [color=ed1c24][b]TO EVERYONE PARTICIPATING THIS RP[/b][/color], the main purpose for this RP is to give myself, and along with all of you, an opportunity to express their idle thoughts/ideas and latent creativity in a manner that I'd like to label as fun. For this reason, I removed the whole use of numbers and this would also explain my dislike for the aspect of quantification in terms of abilities. I'd like this story to progress in the step-wise manner. Systemically in the most erratic way possible to keep things unpredictable and exciting. I also enjoy player participation to a great extent, that's why I trust everyone to practice a bit of self moderation when it comes to their characters.
