I'm just going off my memory of the distinction between electrical engineering and electronic engineering. I might be completely wrong. If you wanted to use 'electrics' (which is a pretty good and clean word in my opinion), I don't doubt you could use it for what you intend. You'd just have to qualify it with a description of its scope.
