And Nico pinged a lot; Mikhail just doesn't mind. Mikhail himself also stinks to his own magical senses, he sees [i]that[/i] as a push to get better.

As for the lingering scents, that's because I'm presuming that due to Jasper's school accepting anyone, even criminals and misfits, a lot of bad things regularly happen/happened there despite the best efforts of the school, and some aura of those accumulated, leading to the stink of crime and villainy lingering. Basically, do enough immoral things in a place for long enough and the place acquires a certain atmosphere...
