 “You use Shadow Ball as well.” Phoebe ordered. The attacks collided  and negated one another.
 “Shadow Claw Phoebe called.
 “Shadow Sneak!” Liam ordered. Banette was hit by the priority STAB move.
 “Shadow Ball!” Phoebe called.
 “Shadow Punch.” Liam said. The ghostly fist smacked its target as Grimm was hit by the ball of energy.
 “Toxic!” Phoebe ordered.
 “Shadow Ball!” Liam commanded.  Both hit, and Banette was KO’d, replaced by Mismagius.

Liam sent Hitmonchan out and Phoebe called out Driftblim

“Ice Punch!” Liam called. The move froze the ghost solid.
 “Now Foresight!” With that,Driftblim lost its immunity to normal and fighting moves.
 “Now, Thunder Punch!” Liam called. The electrified punch shocked the ghost critically, allowing another KO, Aftermath zapped some of Htmonchan’s health. Chandelure was sent out next. Liam recalled Hitmonchan and sent Jiriya out.

“Water Shuriken!” Liam called. Three hits, the last of which was critical and Chandelure fell. Phoebe was guinely surprised by that and sent out her own Dusknoir.

“Thunder Punch!” Phoebe called.
 “Spikes!” Liam ordered. Jiriya tossed spikes all over Phoebe’s half of the stage and than was hit by the electrified punch, which did nothing. Phoebe was shocked.
 “Jiriya has the special ability, Protean.” Liam explained. “His type changes to match the move he’s using. Now, Night Slash!” Jiriya slashed at Dusknoir. Phoebe called for a Curse, which allowed Jiriya’s next Night Slash to finish it.  Phoebe sent out her final Pokémon, Sabeleye, who was immediately hurt by the spikes.

Phoebe immediately Mega Evolved Sabeleye. Liam had Jiriya use Water Shuriken, which only hit twice. Sabeeye than used Power Gem. Jiriya was hit. and than afflicted by the curse. Jiriya was on his last leg. Liam recalled him and sent out Sylveon.

Sableye used Fake Out, but it failed.
 “Moonblast!” The attack hit Sabeleye for massive damage. Sableye than used Shadow Claw. One final Moonblast and Liam won. 
"Oh, darn. I've gone and lost.” Phoebe said. "There's definitely a bond between you and your Pokémon, too. I didn’t recognize that fact, so it's only natural that I lost. Yup, I’d like to see how far your bond will carry you."

Liam’s next opponent would be Glacia, and it would be another Pokémon’s time to shine.
