Name: Hugo Vontelle Race: Human Religion: Agnostic Most common type of magic: Although Hugo, as every magi, was taught the basics of the most common types of magic, his time studying alone has lead him to forget a lot of them, focusing purely on Conjuration, a relatively new form of magic involving the temporary creation of objects and creatures. Age: 29 Looks: Some people don't like getting nice and ready when they go out, maybe they're too busy, or just lazy, it's not unusual to see even some important people using old clothes and messy hair sometimes. Hugo however, takes that to another level. His longish blonde hair sprawls wildly upon his head, as if frozen in the state of having just woken up. his hazel eyes tend to have noticeable bags under them and his beard is kept rough Unless obliged otherwise, Hugo's clothes consist of comfortable robes that cover his tall and lanky form, Although depending on the occasion he will swap to more formal attires, and on really important occasions, some have actually seen his hair properly combed and tied up. These peculiar looks have earned him a reputation with some of the local children, knowing him as a mad man, some even say they've seen him come out of his house with an actual birds nest upon his hair. Personality: Some may call Hugo obsessed, maybe mad, there is some truth to that, but those people do not know Hugo. Truly, not many do, he still rarely has some visits but ever since he was moved to the village, he has spent most time with his studies and his pets. Those who do know him however, would describe him a bit differently. Below that wild mane of his, and covered by the books and years that weigh upon him, Hugo is fairly friendly and caring, never particularly enjoying the fact that he works for such a cruel tyrant, yet weighed by the fact that he is the only one that provides him with the resources to dedicate himself to researching. periods lacking human interaction have indeed lead him a bit off, however nothing violent or worrying, his tendencies have made him grow very attached to animals, almost always keeping some small conjured creature to his side, a bird, a bunny, a rat, no matter, he cares for them more then he cares for most people, talking to them as if they are his friends. In fact, Hugo loves his creatures, and his studies. But he still yearns for a day in which something will take him away, to study other creatures, other structures, and to share his studies with other magi in person. but the king wouldn't allow it, he has always been kept very close to the college ever since he caught the kings attention years ago. so he drowns his wish in studies. slowly filling to the brim. will it one day be to much? Nation you come from: Lempea Background: Hugo's story begins like several others, in fact, a lot of magi share the same past. Raised by a loving family, his power begun springing to surface when he was still very young, and having caught the attention of guards and therefor, the king, Hugo was whisked away to Lempeas college. A haven for the powerful and brilliant, where he was taught how to properly channel and utilize his magic. slowly allowing it to blossom and, as many other magi, he was also taught how to live. For the college served not only as a way to unchain their powers, but to bring them closer to the kings will. He was taught to read, and what to read, what side of history to believe, and which books to dismiss. He was taught to hail the king almost as if a god himself, and that he was to be proud of his position under his rule. Of course, just as many other magi, many more then one might think, time taught him to see the king's true form. Hugo's story began to diverge from the path of the common magi at age 15, one of his professors, Gunther Olg, almost like a mentor to him, had received some books from a different college, and commented about something, a passing comment in fact, but one that caught his attention. Apparently, a new form of channeling magic had been discovered a while ago, a mixture between the properties of elemental magic, that allowed the user to bring upon the elements from their own plane into reality. and the material properties of alchemy, it had been called Conjuration, and was the art of bringing memories, and to some level imagination, into matter. Hugo began looking through said books on his own time, and had commented with a few other professors about it, but in general it seemed to have been widely disregarded, both for the lack of research done into it at the time, and the lack of official recognition by the king, a loop of forms. few people researched it for it was not recognized, and the arch mages would not officially recognize it due to lack of trustworthy research. He began dabbling with conjuration, even though his most powerful feats consisted of summoning a short lasting pebble, the idea of bringing things into reality like that entranced him deeply. His spare time slowly became dedicated to studying Conjuration. At age 21, Hugo created what, honestly, has been his most significant breakthrough as of today, and a few years later, would be used alongside the research of a few other magi, to officially recognize Conjuration as an important school of magic. virtually insignificant in practice, but a colossal advance conceptually, He succeed in anchoring some summoned silverware to what he called a focus. allowing it to remain conjured for as long as the focus stood. this not only caught the attention of other magi, who currently study these foci more deeply. but it caught the attention of the king. oh, if Hugo could go back in time, he probably would have stopped him from ever making that damned focus. The king saw potential with Hugo, but his experiments had already been causing a lot of trouble around Lampene, as failed Conjurations and other related mishaps tend to act very oddly, and commonly, violently. As a solution, he assigned Hugo to a manor, in a village south of the capitol, close enough for him to keep an eye, but far enough that the stories of rabid mutations wouldn't bother anyone the king deemed important. And with that, Hugo's isolation began, at first, it was a fresh of breath air, new people, a new scenery, and all the space he would need. however, time passed, and the webs slowly set upon the outside of the manor. books and papers pilled up as Hugo delved into his studies, becoming attached to his own summons, and slowly, becoming a tale that kids told to others in stormy nights. Currently, He sits in the manor, coming out only to get supplies, sometimes paying the college a visit, and reporting on his studies. slowly growing more and more frustrated with the king, more and more frustrated with his manor, the village, his life. wishing for another breath of fresh air someday, yet seeing no hope of it in his future. Anything else you want to include: At this point, he has become so attached to the small critters he summons, that he tends to do it subconsciously, a form of stress relief and allowing for him to channel repressed emotions into them. Besides that, it is also due noting that although he is exceptional at Conjuration, he would be extremely hard pressed to remember and use other types of magic.
