KaiserElectric's Characters
Character you have created: Subject BPE-45A / "Riley' Alias: Voyager Speech Color (Actually say what you're using): MediumOrchid Character Alignment: Hero Identity: N/A Character Personality: Even for an artificial extraterrestrial life form, you'll have a hard time finding someone with as much heart as Riley, alien or otherwise. Facing whatever life throws at her with cheerful optimism, a warm smile, and an arsenal of sci-fi references, her friendly personality and quirky sense of humor is almost infectious and she likes to see the best in everyone she encounters, good or evil. Life's an adventure to her, and she absolutely loves meeting and befriending new people thanks to her natural empathy and sociability, as well as discovering new and interesting things to interact with. Her cheerfulness can be grating at times, and sometimes she can be a bit naive about serious issues, but when the chips are down and she's pushed too far, her anger and sadness can be just as powerful and aggressive as her happiness.
Origin Info/Details: Shortly before the events in Lost Haven began, ESA satellites detected an unknown object crash into the Mediterranean a few miles off the coast of Corsica. After the initial team sent to observe the area mysteriously vanished, the French government deployed an elite GIGN division to secure the crash site. The unknown object was discovered to be an extraterrestrial spacecraft piloted by a humanoid alien life form. The alien attempted to fight off the GIGN unit using a strange purple energy source, but GIGN managed to subdue the alien and capture its spacecraft in the brutal firefight only to discover that the alien was already dead, probably killed long before the spacecraft reached Earth. Perplexed by how a dead creature could slaughter their initial recovery team and hold its own against an elite spec ops unit, the French government put the alien cadaver in cold storage and quietly covered up the incident until they had the means to uncover the source of the alien's mysterious abilities. The situation changed after a portal opened up and unleashed an army of demons on an American city known as Lost Haven. Realizing that they were incredibly unsuited to dealing with a similar attack, the French government along with other NATO members spearheaded new military and technology projects that would hopefully better prepare them for similar threats like Lost Haven's D-Day. The mysterious energy that the alien had used to cheat death and defend itself at Corsica was brought up as a possible defensive measure, and after much debate the alien corpse was handed over to Darrow Engineering, a London-based high-technology corporation and defense contractor specializing in the biological and chemical sciences, for further research. Darrow pooled together every resource they had into unlocking the secret behind the alien's abilities, even drawing the CEO's interest in the research, until they began to draw a detailed picture of the capabilities of this mysterious power source, dubbed "psionic energy". It was progress, but unfortunately without a living source of this psionic energy it would be impossible to study the capabilities of this energy any further, let alone harness it. Publicly, Darrow Engineering declared that the project had hit a stalemate, while behind closed doors the creation of a being that could harness this energy was discussed. Many ideas were brought forth, but the most radical was the brainchild of Dr. Alaric Gaster, who proposed the creation of a tank-bred alien that could harness psionic energy and serve as a prototype for future generations of psionic-wielding beings. Despite heated objections and a few unfriendly comparisons to one Dr. Frankenstein, the CEO of the company privately gave his approval to the creation of this new life form, classified under the name Project Forethought. Secretly delivered the alien cadaver and several samples from the crash site, Gaster took his experiment and settled in Molotov Point, a secret Darrow research facility in Siberia, to begin work on what would become his greatest creation. The project went on for months, with little communication from the staff at Molotov Point, good or otherwise. Gaster's haphazard reports ambiguously detailed his efforts to breed new -alien lifeforms, while regular staff reports were unusually lax during this time, almost as if they had been stopped from heading out. The last transmission from Molotov Point came when Gaster reported the successful creation of what he called "BPE-45A" shortly before an unusually powerful blizzard descended on the research facility, cutting it off from outside contact. During the storm, Russian weather outposts reported unusual atmospheric conditions in the area where the facility was located, and after the storm cleared Molotov Point remained quiet. After a scouting party was sent to investigate, Darrow immediately declared the facility to be decommissioned and scrubbed everything to do with Project Forethought from their official records. Gaster and the rest of the research staff have been missing ever since the storm rolled in. Before the facility went dark, however, one of Gaster's staff (someone by the name of Zhanya) gave the order for an unusually large package to be delivered to a former Darrow Engineering staff member, Jordan Fletcher, currently working for Poseidon Energy as security under Dr. Alexander Martel. Much to her surprise, it turned out to be a cryogenic pod containing BPE-45A, who introduced herself as 'Riley' to a dumbstruck Fletcher. After the initial shock wore off, she managed to get 'Riley' to her boss Dr. Martel, who was more then happy to help the half-alien girl discover more about the unusual energy source that she was able to tap into and maybe put it to some good use in the meantime. The shenanigan potential is nigh. Hero Type (Select one): Energy (Psionic) Power Level (Select one below): City (Currently) Powers (Be Specific): Riley's half-alien genomes allow her to wield and manipulate a mysterious alien energy source known as psionic energy, which manifests in the form of purple energy discharges and electrical arcs. As powerful as it is unknown and dangerous, Riley is able to tap into a seemingly endless reservoir of psionic energy, hampered only by her relative inexperience with the substance. Some of her uses for psionic energy currently include: Psiblast: Riley is able to fire fast-moving concussive energy blasts from her hands of varying size and strength. She can also prevent a blast from immediately exploding, allowing her to cancel it out or manipulate it like a ball of light, or concentrate it into a powerful beam of energy. Simple, effective, and one of her favorite abilities to use. Psiforce: Riley can charge her own body with psionic energy for a burst of strength, indicated by a glowing aura. She can use this on her arms to land an extra strong punch, her legs to jump high into the air and land safely, or even her skin to protect against an attack. She has to time it correctly for it to work, however, since she can't hold a Psiforce ability for more then a few seconds. Psibeam: Riley can focus her Psiblast into an empowered beam attack, primarily through her eyes, that can melt and punch through solid objects with variable precision. PsiLift: Riley uses her psionic energy to propel herself in the air, effectively granting her sustained fight. In addition to her psionic powers, her outfit gives her some moderate defense without sacrificing her mobility, and her learning speed and reaction time have been artificially enhanced by the experiment that created her. She is also able to converse fluently in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Klingon. Attributes (Select one at each category):
Strength Level: ~60 Tons for burst damage, slightly above normal human for sustained. Speed/Reaction Timing Level: Peak human speed, 50 MPH reaction time Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 3 Hours Agility: 10x Intelligence: High Fighting Skill: Trained
Resources: High Weaknesses: Riley's biggest weakness is essentially the infinite amount of Psionic energy she can draw on turning her into a glass cannon. She can handle sustained use of her powers as long as it's controlled well, but if she pushes beyond her limits her body can start to break down from the intense amount of energy she is channeling, making her more vulnerable or even causing physical harm if she pushes her abilities too far. Supporting Characters: Jordan Fletcher: The newest member of the security staff at a Poseidon Laboratory in Pacific Point, a fiery Irishwoman with an aggressive personality who becomes the unwitting recipient of a half-alien superheroine thanks to her past employment at Darrow. Dr. Alexander Martel: An aging but sharp-witted scientist employed by Poseidon who specializes in unusual energy sources. Despite his English origin and fondness for wry humor, he gets along famously well with the newest member of his security team. 'Zhanya': Unknown Darrow Engineering employee, believed to be the sender of BPE-45A. Reserved and a little bit crowd-shy, she has an impressive intellect and a real talent for invention, but she's not one to show off or brag about her prolific accomplishments. More often then not she tends to blend into the background, quietly hammering away at her latest invention or working on some other bizarre project without garnering too much attention. This suits her well since her naturally inquisitive and curious nature inevitably encourages her to stick her nose where it doesn't belong. Also, while she is a bit shy, she does make friends quite easily with those who get to know her, even though they sometimes get weirded out by her...unorthodox hobbies. Uniform/costume: Maddy's costume consists of a full body suit (think something like what Sombra wears underneath the jacket), green and black in design and constructed out of a compound fabric she designed to function with her unique power set. The bodysuit also possesses a built-in cowl and facemask complete with goggles, made from a variant of her compound fabric hardened into a glass-like substance. Origin Info/Details: Born in Hong Kong, Madeline Fen Ming, or Maddy as she prefers to be called, was raised in a family defined by success. Her English mother has a family tree connected to half of the British East India Company, and her Chinese father liked to jokingly boast that his ancestors were responsible for the invention of gunpowder, the printing press, and General Tso's chicken. Suffice it to say they both did quite well as a businesswomen and a researcher both working for the company Yínhé International, and while they weren't always around as much as Maddy and her two siblings would have liked, Mr. and Mrs. Ming made sure that their children had a comfortable and happy childhood, providing the best education and lifestyle one could afford. This was good for Maddy as it soon became apparent she took after her father in terms of talent and aspirations. Taking to schooling like a fish to water, Maddy did so well that the offer to skip grades became common, and she was starting to tackle college-level courses by the time she was halfway through high school. What really got her noticed was a paper she wrote discussing a new type of material, a highly adaptable fabric that could potentially change its form in response to energy input, changing size and composition to perform a variety of functions. Her parents made sure the paper got to the higher-ups at Yínhé, and in between assurances that she was set for life once she graduated and started working for the company proper, she was invited to join the Silver River Institute, a think tank and research group controlled by Yínhé, where she could begin working in research and development as an internship of sorts. Readily accepting the offer, Maddy was shipped off to the SRI's best labs, conveniently located in Pacific Point, where she began work on developing, among other things, a prototype suit based on the material she wrote about in her research. She was still doing her research when a shootout broke out between a biker gang and a terrorist faction the Hounds of Humanity who were in league with the Silver River Institute and Maddy was caught in the crossfire, taking a bullet and getting doused in a mutagenic chemical. Unknown to anyone at the time, the chemical Maddy was doused with unlocked her metahuman abilities, giving her the ability to near instantly grow or shrink in size. She barely had time to try her new powers when the SRI's connection to the terrorist faction came out and her job was essentially liquidated. After a brief return home to recover from her interactions with the Hounds, Maddy has returned to Pacific Point, eager to prove herself and more inclined to explore what she can do with her new abilities. Hero Type (Select one): Brick/Muscle Power Level: City Level Powers (Be Specific): Maddy's activated metahuman genetics allow her to to manipulate the size and density of her own body, primarily manifesting in her ability to grow and shrink at will. She can shrink to a few inches tall to easily get into tight spaces, and grow to several stories tall when a direct approach is needed, which she accomplishes by subconsciously altering her size and density. She becomes proportionally stronger and durable as she increases in size, able to easily pick up heavy vehicles, deflect bullets, and even tank explosive weaponry at her largest. However, she also retains her strength and endurance when she shrinks, allowing her to still perform superhuman feats relative to her size, such as holding up a weight that she could have managed if she was at normal size when she is only a few inches tall. Attributes: Height: 4 foot 11 (varies) Weight: 98 lbs. (varies) Strength Level: Varies depending on size, but going up to +100 tons at her largest. Speed/Reaction Timing Level: Normal Human Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: Normal Human < (relative to her size) Agility: Normal Human (though more agile at smaller sizes) Intelligence: Genius Fighting Skill: Untrained Resources: Average Weaknesses: While she is incredibly strong and durable when she grows, Maddy is as durable as a regular human when she is at her regular height and smaller, and when she is at a particularly large size she can struggle against a more nimble opponent. She also doesn't have any real experience in hand to hand fighting, meaning there's very little technique behind her heavy blows. Supporting Characters: Dr. Lee Ming: Maddy's father, a biologist working for Yínhé. Janet Ming: Maddy's mother, an executive also working in the Yínhé corporation. Eva Walsh: An old friend she met at a ritzy party she was dragged to when she was ten years old. Said party became particularly memorable when someone put red dye in the fancy water fountains. Terra Vespa: Maddy's bestie. a history intern at Silver River, a socially-minded history student from Utah gifted with the power of shape-shifting.
