Not random. You said short history. In a situation were isolation become part of a relationship, where the children are homeschooled, and the wife doesn't work, it is very plausable for them to simply disappear for quite some time before suspicion arises. Even then, if the relationship was rocky, he could simply say she took the kids and left him without saying anything. Not saying its fool proof, just saying he hadn't been caught yet.
This sounds really convenient. Like, the whole sheet just sounds like he silently murdered his family without anyone coming to look. If I asked where he lived, you're probably going to say the neck of the woods, far away from everyone else, right? Or if I ask why his wife wasn't working to help with their money problems, you'll say that she was teaching the kids, right? I would retort with the latter that it would make more sense if they sent the kids to public school just to share the burden. I'm still trying to wrap my head around why, because it sounds like he has a mental disorder that you glossed over because the sheet is supposed to be "short." I know I said short, but that don't mean it doesn't have to make sense. Because this sheet feels really forced. Like he has a "shitty" life where literally nothing went his way, and killed his family in such a way, that he doesn't have to worry about a thing!
