[@balthazar007] I think me and [@eklispe] came to the conclusion that the person who attacks first in battle generally wins since there's no mechanism about how the hit actually works. You stated that it's not wise to put in all of a Pokemon's EP into the first move, but doing so would force the other trainer to expend equal EP and therefore be left with less EP for their own attack. Because of this, the challenger/first attacker basically always wins. Eklispe, confirm?
This doesn't surprise me. I kind of expected that result here in the beginning. As you get more Pokemon and battle items, as well as special items, this problem will start to fade away. Also, each time you rank up, you will gain another skill as a trainer to use in battle. For instance, as a skilled trainer, you will be able to add your Pokemon's status affliction behind your attacks. (e.g. Fire Pokemon can inflict "burn" on the opponent and Flying types can raise their own "evasiveness".) This will be explained fully later. Basically, just understand that battles at the beginner level are only a learning experience designed to make sure you understand the basics.
