I'm plenty patient, don't worry.

The way I wrote it in my head was that she decided "The Knights sound fun right now, I'll go be part of that." and went to a noble who owed her a favor to get an audience with Fanilly. Once she got that, she used her speed and agility (and a small amount of her augmented strength) to prove she could be valuable as a Knight, and her acting skills to convince the captain that she was a loyal citizen seeking to protect the innocent in whatever ways she could.
