Couple of things 1) Where was she during the Three Day War?
2) I need to re-read the OP to make sure it's still clear the Citadel was a space station that belonged to the Armani that was destroyed during the Three Day War.
3) This one isn't as clear and you wouldn't have known. Martians are required to perform at least two years military service after education, be it undergrad or post-grad. It wouldn't really change the character though, as with her talent the military probably paid for her second degree and sent her off to study.
4) You hint at it but why was her Father involved in the Genesis Project?
