I am ModeGone. A friend of mine showed me this site and encouraged that I join. *waves* I have been roleplaying for quite some time now. It has been... fifteen years or more? I do not remember exactly when I began but it started out as a way to escape from my frustrations, make new friends, and explore fictional worlds in a way that you cannot with just books or video games. However length does not exactly say how well I have roleplayed especially since the first few places I roleplayed were graphical chatrooms and a few forums' roleplay sections. The quality has varied based on what characters from what series and how familiar I am with either/both, not to mention that I am more accustomed to one-on-one or with small groups (up to five people). When I was in chatrooms it tended to be rapid-fire posting, though a few groups allowed for story-style. Forums allowed for more thought to be placed into the posts on average but also some threads died out due to lack of activity. I have no real preference over roleplaying styles although I am a bit hesitant to start another long-running roleplay as the last one I did lasted for six years of almost daily posts and after a while it felt more like a job. Outside of roleplaying I enjoy, as I mentioned, video games and fiction. I grew up with RPGs and Metroidvanias and Platformers but I love a good Puzzle game. Most of my roleplay experience was with these pre-existing fictional worlds with the first three that I can remember being Mario, Sonic, and Digimon. I adore Kingdom Hearts like how you can enjoy a B-movie. The gameplay tends to be rock solid. The plot... heh. If it was a fanfiction it would be a hilariously bad 'crossover' fanfiction that leans more towards an OC protagonist who puts the movies back on the rails, with the Square-Enix characters tend to be used more like OC-standins than true cameos. Just goes to show how a simple change in medium and a well-executed combat system can make something enjoyable. I loved reading mythology and fairytales growing up. This, coupled with reading classical literature, the Lord of the Rings series, and the works of C.S. Lewis and Lewis Carrol led to a rather odd lexicon that regularly confused people by saying things like "ere" and "fortnight" and other such doggrel. I recently (within a year) got into Tabletop RPGs at long last after failing to find groups in person. So far I have been able to try out FFRPG, Champions, Pokemon Tabletop United, and almost got to try Call of Cthulhu before that group changed tactics. In my spare time I like to toy with programs such as Rainmeter, try my hand at video game creation to the point that I semi-regularly join up with a Game Dev Night group, and find new musicians to listen to through Bandcamp. At this time I cannot think of anything else to say so... Oh. Uh. The title I chose... My father would regularly claim to be Satan. He had a whole litany. "[He's] Satan, [Mom's] the Bride of Satan, [I'm] and [my] brother are the Spawn of Satan. [I was] built in the basement, [my] brother hatched from an egg. [He had] been around since the time the Dinosaurs roamed the Earth." Whenever I'd call him out on it he'd get this sly grin on his face and say "Would I lie to you~?" The answer was always a flat "yes." It was a joke of course but he would claim that a lot. Hence "legitimate Satanspawn".
