They are. And they work extremely well together.

Shadow demons can manipulate and control shadows, but they can only stretch them so far. They can even travel through shadows if they learn how to, which is pretty fucking cool if you ask me. But other than that I haven't gotten super fleshed out, so it's open for suggestions. 

And fire, mind, ash, shadow, smoke, I should mention that there are other elemental demons, it's just water ones are rare. Fire are most common, earth next after that, and then you have water ones. No wind demons, unless you felt you could do it, it's the only kind I never really touched.
