Knowing he couldn't stay up there Wessel saw no other option than to head back down and hope the mutant dog had either left or wasn't interested in disintegrating him. He carefully made his way back to the ground but long before he was done, he saw that the dog was still waiting for him. Since he had made his decision he kept going down despite the danger.
