This is an interest check for a historical and low-fantasy powered roleplay, centered around the viking age and life in Viking society in Daneland. I've yet to think of an entirely solid plot-line, but i assume there will be drinking, whoring, raiding, pillaging and warring; any and all help is appreciated and if you present an exceptionally good idea i may except a Co-GM or two. Blood and steel, a Dane's life GM: Vas Khaleen Co-GM: Halvtand (The plot may seem shallow as it stands, but thats because I wanted to allow the story to grow from one starting point any and all ideas are accepted and considered.) This RP will be a historical albeit low-fantasy tier story beginning in the small Dane settlement of Kjolr, a town with hardy wooden buildings and a single great hall made from stone ruled by Jarl.Yrsa Skardisson; build in Eastern Britain some years before by her father Jarl.Svien Skardisson. Since her father built the settlement the Dane's and the Saxons whom originally lived in the areas have managed to work out a fairly stable peace, trade between the two peoples common; though there is always risk in life. Monsters roam the open wilderness, from the plains, to the forests and mountains, trolls, shape-shifters and all other manner of beasts both super-natural and natural threaten the settlement and its inhabitants; generally terrorizing the outlying farmers more than those whom lived inside the main settlement. The society is made up of three distinct social classes as old as the vikings known raids Jarls, Karls, and Thrall's, Jarl's being the highest and most wealthy of the three classes, followed by Karl's which were the common people, farmers, craftsmen, warriors and the like; Thrall's were enslaved peoples either taken in battle or bought from the Saxons and other slavers. A karl which lives upon Jarl.Yrsa's land brought a grave issue to her attention, his children were stolen in the dead of night; and his farm ripped apart leaving him the lone survivor of the attack shamed by his cowardice when a small band of Troll's attacked and he fled instead of defending his home. He begged the Jarl to help him avenge his loved ones by gathering a band of her bravest warriors to hunt down and destroy the beasts, which he described as twice or thrice the size of any man he had ever seen; with broad set shoulders capable of ripping a person limb from limb with ease. Hearing his plea and desiring to be rid of such a threat before they reproduced and possibly did the same to more of her people Jarl.Yrsa put out the word, some of her great warriors lived close few in her own personal guard; though many were more humble in times of peace tending the land to support their families and pay their share to the Jarl. This is were the story first begins, a hunt for justice and revenge with a meeting first with the fair haired Jarl.Yrsa for promise of reward and glory in the eyes of the God's for defeating such great monsters. Rules 1.No being overpowered, I don't want to see single warriors taking on tweleve men at a time or one shotting monsters 2.Magic will be allowed, albeit there won't be any fireball slinging Skyrim mages 3.Any nationality is fine, so long as you have proper reasoning for why they are where they are 4.Stay historically accurate on weapons and armor, any questions for historical accuracy can be directed to myself or Halvtand my Co-GM 5.No getting asshurt, there will be graphic themes in this roleplay as we will not be sugar coating the Viking way of life, if you cannot handle that you need not apply. 6.Women as well as men may apply to be warriors, though men will have obvious advantages in physical might. [hider=Magic] (Limit 2 kinds and please don't be a crazy skilled warrior and a magic user, exceptions can be made for exceptional characters.) Scrying - The ability to gaze into the future, or see across large distances without physically being there. Fortune telling - Involving the casting of bones or other such charms, some people claim to be able to give vague or less often detailed tellings of a persons fortunes in the future. Rune drawing - Enchantment of a kind, giving a warriors blade a glimmer to blind an opponent or harder edge, more strength or favor from the God's minor blessings and enhancements. In both the form of worn accessories and tattoo's. Form changing - Ability to shift ones form into that of an animal typically only a few kinds, and not always controllable Nature incitement - Calling upon the God's to bring down the force of nature, bolts of lighting or thunderstorms, gusts of wind to push a ship onwards.
