I believe it was the situation of 'too fast, too fast '.

Then everybody waiting and waiting - then slowing to a halt. Because nobody wants to be 'that guy' who went too fast.

In my opinion, its better to keep rolling than to slow down at all. Atleast it keeps the thread on the first page.
