Jesaya is that kind of man, and that kind of crazy. Running away from his parents Farm at the age of thirteen, he joined a band of hunters, who got a good bounty for every Ork head they brought in. In an fair fight in close distance, a human is no match for an orc, yet the Segin people had a lot of time to perfect the art of Ork-Hunting. And even among these skilled people are those who become true masters of the art. Jesaya became such a master, before he came of age. Earning enough to buy himself his own part of land, he instead used the money for one week of endless drinking, whoring and gambling, and ended up without a single coin. Seeing it as the Emperor´s way of punishment, he instead joined the PDF, and was selected to join the 13th. Losing his cocky arrogant ways after his first taste of battle, he displayed great courage during the Rebellion, and soon reached the Rank of Sergeant. It was during a raid on an enemy Fuel storage, that he and his section found itself surrounded and outnumbered. Having his orders, he commanded his men to make a run for it, while he would cover up their retreat by blowing up the complex. In the promethium fueled fire a whole enemy company found its end, yet as the Rangers took the ruins of the complex, they found a badly burned, yet still breathing Costa. Waking up, he told about a Vision from the Emperor himself, and that he wasnt done with him yet. Preferring the Lascarbine over its heavier brother, the Las-gun, mobility is seen above armor. As such the Flak-armor has been cut down to grant the wearer the best possible mobility. This of cause has dropped the protection value of the armor, yet this is a sacrifice the Rangers are willing to make. Special weapons and Heavy weapons arent used as much as in other regiments, at least on the paper. Stealing or "borrowing" from other Regiments and Imperial assets has become virtue of the 13th, and the officers turn a blind eye to any "found" equipment that the soldiers might come up with. After all, few ask for the origin of an flamer when the unit is about to attack an bunker. Lacking the means to produce tanks, or the Infrastructure to quickly move Infantry, the Segin people have adapted to this kind of war by using what few Vehicles they could produce to a full extent. Highly mobile, the Vehicles of the 13th are further stripped down in armor, to make room for fuel and to reduce weight. While the Recon/Reaction Detachment has it´s own fixed Crew, with years of experience under their belt, the Light Transport has no crew. Instead each Ranger is expected to know how to drive and maintain the proper rituals to the Machine God to keep the Vehicles running. During a long range-raid, each Rifle-section is granted a Jeep, while the support Sections are split up between the remaining seats. It is no secret that many of the Vehicles also have "Borrowed" Equipment on them, yet hidden well enough that it takes quite an inquisitive Inspector to find it. During the Echo-Campaign, the Segin Rangers were supported by Navy-Assets for the first time. This union turned out to be extremely efficient, and the lacking Firepower of the Rangers could easily be provided with the Air-support of the navy. While de-jure still part of the Navy, the Aeronautica and its Crew have began to display a growing Loyalty to the Regiment. Under the Supervision of 1st Lieutenant Lyn Gro´Vas, the coming Crusade will show, if the Joint Operation will again turn out to be a success. Recruited from men who had lost their Families to the Traitors of their Home System, eager to take the fight to them, it was easy to find enough men for fifteen regiments. Leaving their Homeworld behind, the Regiment was send from one Meat-grinder to the next, suffering horrific casualties yet never brought any shame over itself. Serving through the whole Echo-Rebellion, the 13th has an history of fighting Traitors, and the servants of Chaos. Not a heretic rebellion at first, the secessionists grew more desperate over time, and fell to the promises of Chaos. The horrors of war soon grew to true, warp-born Nightmares. Each world took an bigger tribute in blood and lives to take, and what was seen as a short campaign to enforce Imperial Justice over a world of Traitors, turned into a sector-wide war. Sons grew up on Segin, never knowing their fathers, to be drafted into the Guard. They would fall, or grow old in war, only to see their own children take up the rifles from their hands. Seven times the 13th was wiped out, and eight times the flag of the smiling Skull was taken from the field of battle, to be brought back to Segin, as the Regiment was recreated. An unknown world at first, the People of Segin soon won the respect of other Regiments fighting in the war, and even Astartes couldnt deny their "mortal" bravery. The 13th that takes part on this crusade is combat proven, and has just been transferred from a operation to crush the last hold-outs of the Echo-rebels. The servants of Chaos are an old enemy, and next to the Orks, the most hated enemies of the Segin people.

[sup]
-=+[[u] Misc. Yet from a young age, an ambition grew inside him, that turned out to be a blessing and a curse at the same time. While it drove him to great highs in improving himself, it also turned out to turn him bitter and jealous. Not entitled to become the prime heir for his fathers lands and titles, he instead pursued a military career. Yet as the choosing for the regiments of the PDF came, that Dis would offer as its Tribute, he found himself not on the list of the picked officers. Enraged, he demanded a duel from one of the picked, lowborn officers. Little did he knew that the man he picked was a hardened Veteran of countless gang-wars. The duel lasted for three minutes, and would leave Vane terrible disfigured. Making a laughing stock out of himself, he left Dis to the Throne-world of Celestine V. While he lacked the skills of an warrior, he was indeed quite a capable courtier, and spend the next 150 years working his way up. Soon he would find himself in the Governors Favor, and would become one of his personal Enforcer of Rule in the sector. Soon his name would be feared , as he became a butcher of countless, lowborn and noble alike. Everyone who stood against Ravenstein would soon face the Iron boot of his "Bloodhound". Yet, now with the Invasion at hand, and his home-world and family gone, many would mistake this for a horrific catastrophe. Yet Vane knows when an opportunity opens! Buying himself a Generals Rank, paying in Money and Favors, he then took command of four newly found Regiments of Penal Troopers. Every Prison in the Sub-sector has been emptied, and each able man has been drafted into the "Redemption Legions". Each soldier has an massive metal collar around his neck, with an explosive load to blow the head off, should the soldier try to disobey an order. Armed with Spare Las-rifles, and little to no armor, these men are little more then cannon fodder, to be send in waves into the meat-grinder. The Handlers are mostly former Prison wardens, ex-PDF members, or simply Thugs who were considered Loyal enough to lead the men into battle. Armored in Flak, with a shock-baton and a Laspistol, they also have an detonator, which can be used to set of one, or all collars in a Section. Other members of the Legion are PDF Members of regiments who were loyal to Ravenstein, but who´s regiments had suffered to many casualties to remain in active service. Serving in the "Block" Sections, or as officers, they are motivated by the promise of privileges, high-risk pay, and intimidated, by the Blackcoats. Before the Invasion, the Blackcoats served as the secret police and army of Lord Governor Konrad von Ravenstein. Formed and lead by Eugen Julus Ernst von Dagmar-Regen, they were the iron boot of the Governor to crush any rebellious thought against Ravensteins rule. Purges of Political Enemies, Atrocities committed against civilians and acts of pure terror were their daily service to the stability of the Sub-sector. Yet with the Sub-sector at war, and an open rebellion on Dis, they were directly integrated in the PDF, at least on paper. Serving as something quite similar to a regular Commissar, the Imperial Authorities frown upon their presence, yet accept it, at least for now.
