At first. As anyone who's known him for 60 seconds can tell you, Diego is an incorrigible trickster and prankster, likely as a result of his upbringing, basically being raised by Native American spirits such as Coyote and the Seven Thunders. His pranks and needling are never done out of malice, however, and he's always careful not to take his tricks too far. He also has somewhat of a lust for battle, also a result of his upbringing. Even in his "Business Mode," as he calls it, Diego always has a wide grin when he's engaged in combat. He doesn't let his love of combat interfere with his sense of duty, however, and exercises enough restraint not to toy with his "prey" if the situation is dire. Equipment: Diego needs no equipment but his own spiritual energy and his own two hands. On occasion, however, he is known to wield weapons such as spears, knives, and tomahawks, to name a few. Just not usually. Abilities: Diego is a half-spirit, the son of a mortal woman and one of the spirits of the Badogiak, or Seven Thunders. As bird spirits, Diego's half-spirit nature is signified by the large black raven wings he can manifest from his back, which grant him the power of flight. His half-spirit nature has also granted him far greater durability and longevity than any mere human; if all the tales of his exploits are accurate (and they may well be), he is far, far older than he appears, and far harder to kill than he seems. In terms of active abilities, Diego is a shaman, or spirit medium- he can see, communicate with, and channel the essences of any spirits he has a good rapport with. He can even allow these spirits to possess him in a symbiotic relationship, giving the spirits a vessel to work their will through, and granting any skills and powers the spirit currently possesses in order to perform said will. His natural durability is also increased even further while he's channeling a spirit, the degree to which this happens being proportional to the strength of his current passenger. Because of his heritage, he has a kinship- and greater degree of communion with- other storm spirits of varying mythologies, so he tends to favor dealing with entities of lightning, rain, and wind. Currently, Diego is in a long-term possession arrangement with a spirit who calls itself Raijin, claiming itself to be the Shinto god of lightning, thunder, and storms- a claim that is dubious, at best. As such, Diego's abilities currently manifest themselves as such powers as conjuring lightning bolts, causing great gusts of wind or mighty thunderclaps, or even outright changing the weather, though this last power is dangerous and difficult to control, and so is not used very often... if at all. Skills: Diego has mastered a number of martial arts, most notably Apache knife fighting and Capoeira, which he favors. He's also skilled in wilderness survival, able to subsist himself for long periods away from civilization. He's also fluent in many North and South American languages, as well as Japanese, though he's not as proficient in the latter language. Brief Backstory: Born to a human mother and one of the brothers of the Seven Thunders tribe of spirits, Diego has always been a child of two worlds. Using his spiritual nature to see and communicate with spirits across the American continents, Diego has made somewhat of a name for himself amongst some circles for his actions in settling disputes, quelling angered or hostile spirits, and even engaging in battle with monsters and demons of many sorts. After quite some time traveling across the Americas, Diego set his sights on other continents where he could ply his spiritual trade, most recently Japan, of course. This decision, however, has led to some difficulties. On what was supposedly a routine dispute between rival kami, a massive battle suddenly ensued, resulting in Diego and several other spirits- including the spirit identifying itself as Raijin- being seriously injured in one way or another. In order to save his life, and that of the storm spirit, Diego channeled and merged with the entity, granting them enough power to preserve themselves. The consequences of this decision, however, have been somewhat dire; Diego and Raijin are now, and will be for the foreseeable future, inextricably bonded to one another. Attempting to remove Raijin from his current host will likely result in the death of both. For the time being, Diego has submitted himself to the authority of the Outbreak Agency, in order to help him hone his relationship with the long-term tenant in his body, as well as ply his skills in defense of Japan, and the world at large.
