When the Imperial government of Varulius II started sweeping the various gangs of the lower hives into a PDF infantry regiment, Melchior volunteered the services of both himself and his gang. Rewarded for his patriotism (Being the only gang that stepped up willingly without a show of force), Melchior was put in charge of the newly formed PDF regiment. Arranging for the other gang leaders who were a threat to his leadership to be dealt with by the regiment commissars while making a show of trying to protect the rank and file gangers from lesser punishments, Melchior earned the loyalty of his command while eliminating possible internal strive in the same stroke while painting the Imperium Command as the 'bad guys'. Working with his sub-commanders, Commander Siegenhausen managed to use a purge of mutants from the lower hives as a chance to earn the good graces of the local members of the Adepta Sororitas and even earning the prestigious honor of the right to work with them in the event of an invasion... A position that he would use to betray and slaughter the Sororitas to a woman in the onset of the Chaos invasion in the name of the Lord of Change. The offering pleased his patron enough to earn him a pair of sharp, bladed limbs that have grown out of his sides under his normal arms. Major Helwig Luden: Helwig was a member of the Daft Ripper Clan before it was absorbed into the 84th PDF. While not the biggest or strongest of gangers, he proved to be quite intelligent and rather charismatic... while being far to self concuss of himself to want to be in charge of everything. These traits made him useful to Melchior and thus he raised the man to his second in command. Worship of Tzeentch shortly followed. Helwig was a key part of earning the favor of the Adepta Sororitas due to the fact that he was well read enough that he could easily discuss the finer points of the local dogma of the Imperial Creed with them without offending, which went a long way towards securing the regiments position near the sisters when the chaos invasion began. Captain Marx: Formally of the Savage Crows and a sub-commander of Melchior before they joined the PDF, Captain Marx has long been Melchior's favored captain... with good reason. The man has always managed to get favorable results while knowing his place in the chain of command.
Planet: Varulius II Sectors: Sector 1 Force History: The 84th PDF regiment of Varulius was originally formed from the various gangs that existed in the lower levels of the systems hive cities to, in theory at least, protect the planets of the system from invaders. The gangs in question had been weakened during the 'Elder Crisis', in which a Dark Elder raiding party had managed to infiltrate the lower hive; While the cost was high, the gangers were able to drive the sadistic slavers away but were unable to prevent themselves from being forced by the Imperial government into a PDF regiment. Melchior Siegenhausen, leader of the Savage Crows and the only gang leader to step up willingly at the chance to serve the Imperial government was placed in command as Colonel. After some basic training and a minor purge of the more troublesome elements of the new PDF regiment by the commissars, the 84th PDF regiment of Varulius was sent into the lower hive to purge the mutant population that had been growing there. The purge itself was quite successful due to the knowledge of the terrain and the stealth tactics that the 84th employed, but it also served to open up rather pleasant relations with the local branch of the Adepta Sororitas. As the relationship between the two sides improved, the 84th was granted the honor of being patterned with their devote sisters in the event of a planetary invasion. When Chaos invaded the system, the 84th Regiment used the plans that had been made with the Adepta Soroitas as countermeasures for such a day to brutal effect, but not against the intended targets; The 84th Savage Crows turned on their 'holy' allies, slaughtering them to a woman within the first two hours of the conflict in the name of Tzeentch. Looting much of the sisters relics and equipment, the Savage Crows moved into their former shrine and claimed it for their own even as wild warp energies started to ravage the hive city itself. While the hive around them was abandoned by many, the Savage Crows have remained in their 'haunted' hive, using their stealth tactics and knowledge of their home to avoid the worst and more indiscriminate of the warp manifestations completely. They have not been idle in their victory; During the relative peace that they had after the hive was considered abandoned, they have dug in and prepared themselves in the event of fresh invaders... while also making plans to ally with certain factions of the chaos gods. Plans are already in motion to try and barter the equipment that they looted from the Adepta Sororitas that they don't know how to use to earn themselves some allies and possibly some rather interesting chaotic toys to play with. Allies: (To be discussed later)
