(Went and confirmed that "merali" means "black bird" or "one who appears like a black bird", which actually makes sense because of one idea I had in mind for the family (I'm not going to go into it, since it's a lot more in the air and might no longer be relevant to them). Either way, it's a problem I'll need to work out...)
