I can't comment much on the privacy thing since Skype is pretty much the only thing they own that I use (if you don't count the phone I didn't buy). If you're referring to not being able to appear invisible to select contacts, I rarely ever set myself to invisible on a program. If you're referring to some sort of anonymity thing, I actually hate all the anonymity on the internet in the first place. Either way, there's not really any other option right now from what I can tell.
