This allows him to slip into crowds when the need be. He has red hair, and green eyes. He also has pale skin, and 2 extra canine teeth where molars should be, as is common of his lineage. There are no other noticeable features, at least not yet.

Personality

Miri is as stubborn as a mule and as irritable as they come. Due to his...hotheadedness and tendency to scream anything he thinks of, he easily became an activist. It was almost natural. How curious. Besides being a natural [s]screaming man[/s] activist, he also has vague traces of intelligence, but these only shine through in moments where he is determined, or in other terms, pissed. Under this callous exterior is a genuinely clever individual, perhaps a trait picked up during his criminal years. Besides this, Miri is but a boiling cauldron of spite and a strong sense for justice. He really hates the oppression the Prae have forced upon the Licentia, and people who feel entitled.

History

Miri syn Strannika began life in a regular manner, for a Licenti. The early details of his life are quite droll, and to be honest, the only slightly interesting aspect of this time was Miri’s father, Kilroy. Most peculiar is the fact that Kilroy decided to raise his progeny, but alas. Kilroy was a man shrouded in mystery, constantly using his lineage’s talent to pass between worlds unnoticed. Miri has been unsuccessful in finding out his father’s exact line of work, but there had been rumors circulating he was a hitman or something along those lines. There is nothing to support this theory besides the fact that he and his son never truly settled anywhere, merely passing through, trying to survive. Many days would pass where Miri was left on his own, usually in a safe location. It is this that made his life so dull. The day Miri’s life truly began, so to speak, was the day his father’s ended. It was a stormy night (Rather, early, early morning), and Miri was shaken by his father. His father exhibited one trait he had never shown before: Fear. The rain drowned out his voice, but somehow, Miri was able to tell what he had said ,”Miri, I’m not going to be coming back. I need to disappear, so to speak. Go into hiding. I’ve pissed off one of the Exeo for the last time, and if I’m not here they won’t come for you. Hopefully, we meet again.” And with that, his father put a purple spyglass into the young Licenti’s hand and fled. Miri continued the family tradition of wandering from realm to realm, place to place. Eventually, he turned to crime. Smuggling, to be exact. His family’s talent had given him a knack for it. Ominar was where Miri got into the business. He had no distinguishing features, and so he easily delivered illicit goods from realm to realm, the only distinguishing factor being his father's...legacy, so to speak. Eventually, after sneaking some extremely rare plant life out of Priscus, via some miracle, he was treated with the level of respect a mob boss would get. He was no such thing, but he was the best in his business, taking unstable bridges to deliver unstable goods. This changed a year and a half ago. Miri had gotten in over his head, so to speak. He had been in Torqueo at the time of the coup, procuring some less than legal information, so to speak. This is when shit hit the fan. Rumors of his exploits had reached some higher ranking Prae officials, and so he was having significant trouble returning to Medius. Now this in itself wouldn’t usually be a major problem. He could just wait until security weakened, or he could take one of his reliable side bridges. Unfortunately, the coup coincided with 1. A very time sensitive deal with a large criminal organization that, if not made on time, would result in Miri being found unidentifiable and horribly massacred in a ditch 2 weeks later, and 2. Miri’s only viable bridge for this operation had recently closed. These 3 factors led to Miri making one of the biggest mistakes of his life. Time was running out, and Miri was no track and field member, so to speak. That is why he decided to make a very dangerous voyage. Located relatively close to the main “bridge” between Medius and Torqueo, so as to not appear in thin air, it was a fairly old bridge that was looking like it would collapse soon. Miri miscalculated, and about halfway through his voyage in between Torqueo and Medius, the bridge collapsed. And left Miri stuck within Pylae, unprepared and defenseless. Miri did not recollect much of what happened inside the “Rift”, except for two things. The first of these things being a sort of awakening, mentally. Miri put everything into perspective, and realized that he was insignificant in the grand scheme of things. For now. For this event would inspire Miri to become a political activist, and so become one of the most outright and active individuals protesting the Prae’s treatment of Licentia. The second thing was the vis. An absurd amount of vis was naturally absorbed by Miri in Pylae. Vis that his body would be unable to handle, should he try to cast magic. Now, how Miri managed to survive Pylae is probably the aspect that screams the most about this event being “fated”, that being he used his family’s ability to spot a particular weakness in the fabric of Medius, from Pylae. He used the seemingly limitless supply of vis at his disposal to tear and mend a hole behind him. After this, he has completely stopped using magic so as to not have it rage uncontrollably. The approximate year and a half between that incident and the present has had Miri depart the criminal scene and begin campaigning for Licentia rights, such as wider availability for consumable vis, so as to reduce crime rates. Along with this, he has begun investigating exactly HOW the Prae took control of Ominar. To Miri, it seems awful suspicious. And he was going to find the truth behind it and bring justice to the city if it killed him.

Belongings/Equipment

Miri exists on the bare minimum due to his former status as drifter between worlds. Heirloom Spyglass: A purple, crystal spyglass contained in a tarnished bronze frame (One side has a bronze eye covering the crystal. This is the binding magic that keeps the vis from dissipating.) The crystal is said to be made up of the first Strannika to develop the ability to see instabilities in the fabric between worlds, and allows those not of the Strannika line to see such anomalies. It is worn on a brass chain around Miri’s neck. Black Book: A collection of names and debts owed to Miri from his days as a smuggler. He tends to avoid collecting said debts, to maintain leverage over the less than scrupulous community he was once a part of. Suitcase: This singular leather briefcase is filled with most of Miri’s belongings (Clothing, essentials, etc.) It has a combination lock to prevent any unwanted meddling.

Capabilities

Mental

Sting:Miri may be quite lacking when it comes to magic, due to certain circumstances, but he makes up for it in an unusual manner. The vast horrors of Pylae hardened Miri. It is nigh impossible to persuade him to do anything, and forms of hypnosis, persuasion, telepathy, and pretty much all mental magics wash right off. Bohemian Rhapsody: See below: Sheer Heart Attack Smooth Criminal: Due to his spotty past, Miri has a vast collection of knowledge and blackmail pertaining to the underworld of Ominar. He earned quite a bit of respect for his duties to the “community”, if you could call it that. This is the most probable explanation as to why he hasn’t been assassinated.

Physical

Average: Miri has no above average physical abilities. Go figure.

Magical/Technological

Every Breath You Take: Due to the history of the Strannika line, most inherit the unusual ability to perceive previously unknown passages between realms with relative ease. Usually unstable, highly dangerous passages. More often than not they make the passage safely, alas, poor Miri did not. Sheer Heart Attack: Miri came out of Pylae carrying some serious baggage, each with it’s own benefits and consequences Bohemian Rhapsody: Miri is slightly...unhinged due to viewing the extreme vastness and horror of Pylae. This also is what drove him to become an activist. He realized that his life was insignificant when compared to the size of things, and that making an impression would require meddling with powers far higher than his own. He seized the opportunity when the Prae began their propaganda campaign. If he were to stop this tyranny, he would go down in history Don't Stop Me Now: Being a Licenti, the sheer amount of vis in Pylae widened his magic stores, and filled them to the point where a simple Trial stage couldn’t handle the sheer power gifted to him. Having very little experience in magic to begin with, if Miri were to try casting any sort of spell it would spiral out of control, with extreme consequences. Bites the Dust: Due to the amount of vis in Miri’s body, his need to feed has gone down a great amount. He still has to do it, but with far less frequency.
