I'm more like "Dang, she got messed up."

I'm not saying that I particularly like her or anything (baka!), just that I feel bad for her now too.

That clears it up. You and I just have different motivations for watching things. For me personally, I won't watch any show -otherwise perfect or not- unless I care about the characters and plot.
