Cybernetics while still in an early stage are beginning to be implemented more and more but have not yet made themselves commonplace most often related to military personnel or gang members who have gotten hold of the technology over the black market. Vast mega-cities reign over the majority of the Earth leaving little natural space on land mass other than a few pockets and artificial habitats, most commonly parks in districts and those with a more scientific or practical function like timber farms (Trees grown en masse for the purpose of producing timber). Mega-corporations control society much like a government an example of one of the more prominent being Eurocorp. Other notable mentions include JPN-22 and Nova INC among many more. Surprisingly mobile phones, and computers have not become a thing of the past although have advanced technologically to becoming an absolute necessary part of life and has revolutionized how consumers act with the digital world. Humans have been divided into two categories by man-made evolution that far overshadows and outweighs simply male and female but not Human and Cyborg. The latter being those who make use of permanent augmented cybernetics such as artificial body parts often designed to carry out specific functions. Cyborg is a broad generalization as there are varying degrees from minor augmentation to those who are arguably more machine than human. The societal shift has lead to a difference in views on cybernetics many seeing as unnatural who stand opposed on differing scales of radicalism while the same scale also applies to the other side. Most mercenaries are hired by private corporations for espionage and assassination as well as security detail work among other career opportunities. Outside of this there are a number of mercenaries who work privately with hit-men and bounty hunters having become well paid jobs where the work was constant and the rewards easy to reap. Many districts are heavily bordered by law enforcement who are ever present at crossing zones, checking relevant documents and searching for contraband. The most heavily bordered zones are those separating West and East Europe, influence from Korporat 18 in many previously Eastern European countries had affected numerous aspects of living. Differing laws on cybernetics, firearms, and in some districts racial profiling warrant the wall that runs across the continent relatively similar to old borders, not only law enforcement but military presence is often seen here in the interests of Eurocorp. Weapon mods have become almost a necessity to those who can afford the credits. Sights, Consoles, various under slung equipment and other performance enhancing modifications have have become commonplace especially in this line of work. • Shell weaponry- Conventional. While firing mechanisms differ around shell firearms, gunpowder ignites with the explosion propelling the ammunition out of the barrel. The used casing is ejected so the next can be primed. • Energy- Classifies laser Laser generally speaking shoots a beam of destructive energy or light to hit reflective targets. Powered by batteries this takes away the need to reload as often. However, due to the intense energy drain of powering this weapon, a battery needs to be replaced every 30-80 shots depending on the weapon type. Considerably more than conventional small arms. Laser technology has it’s own problems and while manufacturer’s claim the battery packs are completely waterproof this is not always the case. Cheaper models have been known not to fire on occasion or even occasionally backfire, severely burning unprotected skin. • Energy – Classifies Electrothermal. Electrothermal weaponry is rare and expensive, namely because of how dangerous it can be in the wrong hands. It primarily serves two functions to either seriously burn and potentially kill living organisms, this is also known as plasma and the secondary more secretive function with the use of ionized projectiles with sufficient velocity to cause impact damage and also fry mechanical targets, like cybernetics. Major downfalls of the weaponry are it’s extremely limited usage before overheating and requiring cool down. Also prone to needing repairs and damage to the model can end up catastrophic results for the user. Weapons can be broken down into several categories; • Pistols, any single shot, semiautomatic or fully automatic firearm that can be easily fired with relative accuracy (depending on mods), using one hand. • Shotguns, commonly stripped back to slide/pump action and semi-automatic, primarily fires buckshot and breaching rounds. Brutal in close quarters. • Rifles, include assault, carbine, and marksman rifles most effective at a medium range. • SMG, or sub-machine gun, fires either semi or fully automatically at rapid speeds generally use pistol ammo/cartridges/batteries. • Long-Range, Sniper rifles, a specialized weapon that is impractical for everyday use or CQB but brutally efficient at killing from a distance. Often used for a more stealthy approach. • Heavy, is a broad category including special weapons not for everyday use, missiles, grenades, electrothermal cannons, etc. • Melee, sword, daggers, knives, all that good stuff, anything used for fighting melee or hand-to-hand. Weapon modifications or MODs categorize everything from custom grips and folding stocks to sights to grenade launchers and electrothermal under slung components. While there is a huge number of modifications they are largely reserved for Corporation Agents, Military, and Law-Enforcement in an effort to keep ahead of criminals and other movements within society that get their hands on illegal firearms.
