Having hypopituitarism, he cannot and will never hit puberty and as such hasn't grown an inch or gained a pound since the ripe old age of 11. Everyone constantly asks him if he's in the wrong school, or if he's some sort of child prodigy, but he's really just an average-intelligence teenage boy who happens to be cursed with the appearance of a small child. He has a face like a baby, with big innocent looking brown eyes and a small upturned nose, a thin lipped little mouth and round cheeks. He almost looks like a doll. He has sandy brown hair that's quite long, coming down to about the middle of his neck. It's always unkempt and messy, as if it would kill him to pick up a comb. For his miniature height, he's on the cusp of being slightly overweight, which only makes him look even more childish. He has big hands and feet, and walks with a bit of a limp on his left side. ||

β€œIn a nutshell, I am not unaware of my failings. He could never imagine himself having friends, though on the inside he's lonely and insecure. || || QUIRKS || * bites his nails and knuckles when nervous * ties his shoes with triple knots * paces when thinking * has pretty bad asthma and is allergic to dogs and shellfish.

"I'm not small, it's the world that's too big!"
|| BIOGRAPHY || Toby was born one snowy January evening 15 years ago. His parents were poor and currently supporting his mother's piss-drunk sister, so his birth came at kind of a bad time. The family already had a two year old girl in tow, and tons of debt piling up. Toby's early years were uneventful, at best. His mother never really liked him much, but he and his father got along like peas in a pod. They did just about everything together, and shared a lot of interests. Toby's sister Rachel was more of a shy, inside person, so she wasn't a huge influence on Toby's childhood in the way his father was. When he was about ten, Toby's doctor noted that he had suddenly stopped growing. He never hit any of his growth spurts or showed any signs of developing any further. Later this was diagnosed as hypoputuitarism, a hormone disorder that prevents puberty and essentially traps someone in the body of a child for the rest of their life. It also happens to make one rather susceptible to disease and most with the condition die young. Not great news for an already financially struggling family. This only made his mother even more distant from him, and gave his drunken aunt -who still lives with them, incidentally- another reason to get on the poor kid's case. Then the accident happened. Last month, his sister was killed in a motorbike crash while with her boyfriend, who was also killed in the collision. Toby's parents were understandably devastated, but Toby personally only felt rather numb to the whole event. It's as if it never really occurred to him until later what it actually meant to lose a family member. He still has doubts about whether or not he was good enough to her while she was alive, because they never had much of a bond. After the accident, Toby's family moved out of town. So even though this is his second year of high school, this is his first year at this school. Mostly he's just trying to pass the year and stay out of everyone's way.
