Markus felt a very cold grip within his chest as he saw the Wyvern swoop in for his adventuring companion. "Valerie!" he cried out. He saw her roll just out of the way, but no matter what that was a rough fall. He thought quickly, letting go of the tree he was holding to and stepping his leading foot on a rock that jutted out of the slope, steadying himself. His free hand punched forward, palm out. He barked a word of power, and a ball of flame erupted from his palm and struck the Wyvern in the side. The beast cried out in shock and pain, the scales blackened and now bleeding. It let out a few more shrill roars, before weakly flapping its wings and doing its best to fly away, thinking Markus still had more where that came from. He didn't, truthfully. He would need to prepare such a spell again over a few hours, but that was now far beyond his concern. "Hold on! I'll be there in a moment!" he called to her, making his way down the slope as best he could after sheathing his sword. It was rough going, and he nearly slipped, but he was lucky. It was about another minute before he finally got close enough to the flat ground to leap onto it, his feet slamming onto the rough earth. He found her upright, and fairly bruised next to a large rock big enough to lean against. She seemed to not be seriously hurt, and he sighed with relief. The Swordmage held out a hand for her to grab. "Can you stand?" he asked her. "If you need help walking or need to baby something, tell me now. Don't hide it."[@Luminosity]
