He's built for attrition against Grimm, not tournament-style combat against people. But his two-part upgrade will help deal with that. Namely, the whole "bullets beat low-quality anti-Grimm armor" part and the "I just swing my sword hard" part. 

If only he could stay on his feet long enough to do the actual fuckin' upgrade
