This entirely depends on what the plot calls for and the amount of acceptable characters we accept into the game. However, with that said I’ve always held the motto of “as many as you can handle” but generally such territory goes to GM perspective and opinion of said player. I am completely open to the idea of people playing two or even three characters, but there is a point of reason with it. After fifteen years of role-playing I’ve experienced firsthand what excessive character creation can lead and I am especially guilty of it— so I’m really wary of people who claim they can handle four consistent character’s at a single time and so forth.
