Two months ago a group of humans found themselves in the middle of the woods near a town.  A group a people soon met them, but the people weren't all human.  They soon found out that they were in a fantasy world with magic, instead of science.  Without a way to return home, they went to the city and tried to earn a living.  The group that found them knew of a wizard school near the town where they could learn the local language and learn the basics of magic, and they started taking classes there every week.

They just finished their studies, learning additional job skills for one of the "classes" from this world, and are now ready to begin their search for a way home.  A General from the local army, Lord Varon, is in need of scouts to help them in this territory they are protecting against the onslaught of a dark army.  Because their search for a way home means that they will be searching the area anyway, they signed up to help.

Now they have come together in a tavern to begin their journey.  Their first stop will be, the place where they arrived in this world.
