[indent]Dr. Eileen Fang is a mid-level researcher for DARPA doing work in materials science.  Quiet and easily talked-over, Eileen has always followed the rules and credits this obedience for her successful, albeit banal, career.  Of course, the rules she follows are not limited to simply the rule of law, she also follows the unwritten rules, the social norms, the tiny invisible things that put everyone in their place; after all, she had always been powerless to change the world, to rebel against the things that disagreed with her.  She convinced herself that she was content, that she would find solace in science.  To many, she initially comes off as bookish, nerdy, and awkward, but she has a strong desire to see people work together towards a common goal, if only she had the leadership ability to pull people together. To those that she is closer with, she can be nurturing and motherly. A secular utilitarian at heart, she sees morality as maximizing 'good' for the maximum number of people, or as Mr. Spock would say, "Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

Eileen lives in a shabby, tiny apartment room of a highrise in the middle of downtown, Third Noon, and on the night she discovered her powers, she received a mysterious call. She agonized on the message and slept fitfully, but in the morning, she headed to work at the DARPA research center with a grim determination. She turned herself in and gave them full disclosure, as well as suggestions for what the logical next steps should be...[/indent]
