When she mentioned that she would chip in he grabbed his bag from the storage area over his head and waved his hand. “Nah, you can just pay me back some other time.” He said with a nod as he led the way off the train. His body shifted through the crowd with ease and understanding of how the massive groups worked. Despite his quickness, he did make sure to glance over his shoulder every once and a while to insure that the newbie was keeping up with him. She didn’t know what it took to be a guild wizard just yet but she chose Fairy Tail and he had no intention on living her high and dry. The chatter on the streets wasn’t very comforting. Apparently the groups of thugs stealing things were making threats. Some sentences that could be heard from the passersby was ‘I heard that if you were a bounty wizard or a guild wizard they’d target you for more than just theft in fear of you catching them.’ And ‘I heard they have eyes and ears all over town. People working for the gang just to keep themselves off their radar for theft and worse.’ Those words rang in his ears, if they stood out it would be a problem. Soon he fell back into step with Kit instead of being a couple paces in front of her. Safety in numbers. After meeting with the client about the necklace and getting a warning of ‘these are bad guys’ and blah blah blah, nothing new, they went on their search for a place to stay the night before their hunt began tomorrow morning. “The only hotel in town with reservations still is…” Gray’s gaze turned upwards at the cheap looking motel, oh well he had been in worse. A shrug rose and fell his shoulder as the two ventured inside, before arriving to the desk he overheard the desk clerk on the phone. “Yes, we have one room left… yeah the festival tomorrow is drawing in a lot of people… yeah I hope everything goes smoothly too… oh a couple just walked in. I’ll call you back.” After the clerk hung up the two were greeted with a pleasant smile. Thinking on his feet, the midnight blue haired man reached out with his free hand and grabbed Kit by her waist, instantly pulling her to his side. “1 room for 2 please.” He said brightly, a cheesy grin on his face. “Aren’t you two adorable!” The clerk said as he clicked away on the computer. “And lucky too, our last room is our king suite were most love bird’s stay.” At that Gray dropped his bag on the counter and fished out his wallet. He did everything with one hand keeping a good grip on Kit in hopes she’d play along or at least keep her from squirming away and blowing his cover. He paid for the room without giving it a second thought and threw the receipt back into his bag. He led the way down the hall before stopping and looking over his shoulder. “Oh can you drop by an extra blanket. My girl gets cold at night but she’s always too shy to ask for it.” The clerk, beaming at Gray, nods to indicate that he would bring a blanket before the two disappear down the hallway. Gray did not let up on her until they were inside the room and the door was shut. “Sorry about that. The conversations on the street weren’t exactly comforting so it seemed like a better idea to give off the impression that we were a couple than partners. And don’t worry, I’ll sleep on the floor you can have the bed.” He said as he dropped his bag on the end table and sat down on the corner of the bed pulling out the information they had gathered from the client and a town map. He spread out the map on the bed and looked up at her. “Where do you think we should start?”
