She is unable to teleport to a location on a screen or in a picture, only a real location within her range of vision. She is able to quickly understand nearly every system she comes across, and can find its weak spots with little effort. Other Skills: Jessie enjoys tinkering with small gadgets, creating small but complex machines. Equipment: Night-vision goggles, gerry-rigged charging port for her music player. Bio: Jessie's story really begins with her father, a geneticist formerly working for the organization that became NOVA. He discovered the likelyhood that the Variant gene was hereditary, and not necessarily a random mutation as had been thought previously. He posited an unpopular opinion that the Variants were simply the next stage in human evolution and should be encouraged, not regulated. This opinion caused him to lose his position and have his doctorate stripped from him. Disgraced and ashamed, Gerald moved his small family to New Haven, where he and his wife eventually opened up a florist shop. When Jessie began to exhibit Variant abilities at a young age, her father was delighted and encouraged her to explore her abilities to their fullest. Gerald taught his daughter Jessie that, because of her powers, the world was her oyster. Everything she wanted was within her grasp. Even thought many people would hate and fear her because she was different, he taught her that the Variants would win in the end. Because of this mindset, Jessie believes that Variants are better than the rest of the population, and should be able to do whatever they want. The laws regarding registration and regulation infuriate her, which is why she has worked to keep her identity hidden for so long. Jessie has known hard times, as her family was not wealthy or particularly well-off, despite the shop her parents ran. It was while looking into college though, that Jessie had her first brush with the law. Realizing that she would never be able to afford the education she wanted and her parents said she deserved, Jessie put on a mask and robbed a bank. Though she only got away with a few thousand dollars, it was enough to put up as collateral for a student loan; and enough to give her an idea for where to get more cash when things got tough. Even though Jessie breaks the law at a whim, considers most other people to be beneath her, and has little empathy for those she doesn't know, the girl still has some morals. She refuses to use her powers lethally, having no desire to become a murderer. She tries not to hurt people too much, leaving obviously sentimental things alone when rooting through safety-deposit boxes and the like. Above all, she does what she does for fun and money, not for fear or hate. Jessie has had a couple close encounters with the NHPD, but has so far managed to avoid being caught.
