[@Leslie Hall] The philosophy boils down to how the magic is used as an extension of the individual. Like the plant magic user in the last iteration. The character was very passionate about plant life before they adopted their magic. In this case the user's extensive knowledge of the properties of different plants, flowers, fungi etc. would enhance their use of plant magic far outside of just summoning plants for brute force attacks. So, no they wouldn't reject based on the magic itself but on how dependent the wizard is on that magic. To them magic is a tool to be respected but it is not a crutch.
