Troy Military Academy

An Excerpt from the Troy Military Academy information letter. Troy Military Academy is an institute created to prepare patriotic individuals to join the United Conglomerate Sectors (UCS) Military. Equipped to train approximately 300 soldiers at a time, the facility usually averages around 250 students, allowing a smaller atmosphere and better personal training from the instructors to the trainees. The academy trains students, age seventeen through and up, over the course of 18 months, to perform advanced firearms procedures, first through third level hand-to-hand combat training, urban and wilderness survival techniques, and other skills of priceless use in the service of their country. The trainees are divided into squadrons. There are 26 squadrons, each with a maximum of 12 trainees. The squadrons are named after a letter in the NATO Phonetic Alphabet, AKA, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc. Throughout the course, the squads will compete against each other in training exercises called "War Games." Over the length of the training, students will be instructed through three sections of learning, each divided into the six months. The first section includes basic skills that are taught by standard military training, while expanding on it as well. The second and third section of training teach advanced techniques and procedures, while touching back on the previous section(s). At the end of the year, a final exam of sorts will be given to fully test every skill learned over the 18 months spent in the program, and will not be easy in any way. Students will fail if not properly ready for the exam.
This Roleplay will be set in the early future, specifically in the year 2115. Almost thirty-five years prior to the events of the game, The United States (now the United Conglomerate Sectors), Russia, and the United Kingdom, declared victory after a nearly eight year continuous conflict with Communist China, North Korea, and the Empire of Japan. The UCS began to emphasize a stronger, more institutionalized military. This brought about the rise of High-End Military Training Academies (MTA’s). Our game takes place in one of the top MTA’s in the world, Troy Military Academy. Located outside of New Boston, in Sector 4 (What used to be the Massachusetts area). There is a minimum of 2 Paragraphs per post. One-Liners are NOT ACCEPTED. Lengthy posts are more than welcome, but quality is far valued over quantity. 2. While this is a mature RP with mature characters, I ask you to keep your posts classy. I don't mind swearing or cursing but if it guess ridiculous, I'll have to asks you to tone it down. The same rule applies to romance. General affection is fine, but if we get a little frisky, it needs to stop or go to PM's if it really means that much to you. 3. Please be respectful to other players. Conflict is often unavoidable, but please conduct yourself with some manner of decency. Slander, hate-speech, racism, and discrimination of any kind is never tolerated and I will not hesitate to respectfully ask you to leave. I do hope this won't be necessary cause this can be a really fun game. 4. Along with the previous rule, no character will directly take action on another character with mutual consent. Your character can't go killing someone just because. There really shouldn't be death in this game (YET! MUAHAHAHA!) 5. I reserved the right to add rules if I see fit. 6. Please PM me your character sheet. Do not post it in this thread until I approve it.
Name: Age: (17-35) Sex: Appearance: (A picture or description is fine, but anime will be automatically denied) Personality: (Try to list at least 3 good points and 3 bad) Skills: (What are some things you character is good at? This doesn't have to be military/combat related. It can be knitting or guitar or something like that. Please be realistic.) Background: (I ask for at least 2 content-filled paragraphs) Other: (Optional. Anything you want to add? You can put a theme song here if you want.)

[ Clint Matthews Age: 19 Sex: Appearance: Clint looks older than he is. His facial hair makes him look like a grown man, so he often gets mistaken for his father. He stands at 6'1 and weighs about 180 pounds. He is in good condition and visibly so. He has long dark hair and short facial hair.
Personality:

Very Loyal - It may take some time, but Clint is unfalteringly loyal to his friends.
Analytical - Clint has a gift for seeing a deeper meaning in things.
Sympathetic - Clint tends to feel bad for people who need help, but his empathy is nearly nonexistent.
Blunt / Brash - While he is honest, he can lack a certain grace when it comes to others
Impatient - He despises waiting with a passion.
Unemotional - Clint tends to push his problems deep down and compartmentalize
Skills:

Shooting / Marksmanship - Clint is a fantastic shot. Coming from a military family, he has been around firearms his entire life and knows them well. He prefers to shoot rifles over any other type of weapon, and long-distance shooting is his expertise.
Mathematics - Being a fantastic shot means that he must be able to judge angles and compensate for variables. He is a quick-thinker and can do rather complex functions in his head. Though not a prodigy, he's never had trouble passing a math course in school.
Weaknesses:

Unathletic - Clint marksmanship ability is largely to compensate for his lack of physical prowess. While he isn't weak or puny, his body lacks the same grace as his tongue. He is not very good at running and easily runs out of breath.
Compartmentalization - Clint tends to shove his feelings down, including his largest weakness - anger. He hides his emotion until something trips his wire and he goes off.
Tempermental - He has a very short patience when it comes to people and circumstances. The most ridiculous and miniscule details can set him off, especially when he's been put in a bad mood.
Background:
The third of five children in a career military family, the USC Armed Forces had always been Clint's destination. His father, grandfather, grandmother, great-grandfather, uncles, cousins, so-on and so-fort, had been soldiers. Naturally, he joined a military academy, largely to honor his unpleasable father. Growing up, he was always a delinquent and his hot-head always got him in trouble. He was the kid that got into fights if someone messed with his stuff, the one that got kicked out for misbehaving too many times. Throughout his entire life, he was a trouble-maker for all those around him. His father, a USCAF Major, always held high standards that Clint could never keep up with. After becoming so frustrated with his father's expectations, Clint began to intentionally disregard him. He partied with his high school friends and got arrested multiple times for disturbing the peace. He and his father, who was suffering from a resurfacing war-inflicted heart condition, got into a massive fight, the latter almost getting physical with his rebellious son. Clint stormed out, swearing that he would never come back. As he intended to keep his promise as long as his father would let him, he went to stay with his older brother, who was then on leave from duty to see his newborn son. The next morning, they received word that their father's heart had failed during his sleep and he had passed away peacefully. In a fury of rage, Clint stormed to his father's hospital room, where he screamed at the old man's body, shouting "You don't get the last word!" until his voice went raw. The impact of his father's death shook him greatly. He finally woke up out of his selfish stupor. He took his father's advice and applied for Troy Military Academy a year later. He swapped his motivations around, and know tried to honor his late father's wishes instead of denying them like the spoiled child he had been.

I will be taking 9 total players, allowing one space for myself in the game. First dibs comes from those in the interest check. They know who they are.
