I got the idea of hand cannons from an MMO called Dungeon Fighter Online, where they were the weapon of choice for the Gunner Launcher sub-class. Launchers were basically walking artillery; They weren't hard to out maneuver, but if you're caught by one, then you could kiss your ass goodbye. Their first skill is pulling out a giant chaingun. Yes, you heard me right; that's their first skill. It's no longer available in English (which makes me really sad, it was my first MMO.) But the wiki is still up.
