[@DesperatePerson] My attitude towards details is pretty much in the same vein as [@ELGainsborough]'s. Unless you're writing at a very basic role-play level - which I can only assume you're not, since you're asking for how to get these details right - you shouldn't hold back on being descriptive, since a lot of the quality of writing comes from the details and simply missing them for the sake of making posts shorter or simpler isn't the practice of a good writer. You're asking about the details, which is a good sign. Going into more depth like this can also be very important for reasons outside of simply making your posts 'look good' (though it'll do that too), since a lot of the time other role-players can react a lot better to your posts when you're giving them these details to work with, which is very important in a combat situation.
