Woops, Orin part of my previous post meant for [@bluetommy2] [@Elgappa] Well, Hornfel taxes every goods that go through his territory, which conveniently for him is on the main road out of the valley. I guess he could do an exception on Longstrider's goods for the help given as long as its in good faith (Meaning only Longstrider's goods and not the goods of other clans disguised as such. ALSO FOR EVERYONE. Hornfel has made his claim official pretty much immediately since the obvious claimant was Dourhorn and he didn't like the idea of a religious mendate, but, he declared he was willing to follow the leadership of someone who could: 1: Not mingle in matters of trade. 2: Not mingle in matters of religion. 3: If he forces him to pay higher taxes because he's richer, force other lords that produce food to provide some for free to his clan (Or better yet, demand a flat tax to all clans and let them trade with each other how they would). 4: Not go in useless wars (Goblin culling doesn't count as war but rather as a chore that needs to be done). If he is the leader he would: 1: Not mingle in matters of trade. 2: Not mingle in matters of religion (Exiling unbelievers or heretics from your clan is fine but no killing, you can refuse access to others based on religion if so you desire) 3: Institute a flat tax based on population payable in whatever the clan chief wishes (Money, food, soldiers for defense, etc). 4: Use soldiers primarily to secure the valley and follow feudal obligations to the high king, not seek outside conflicts. 5: Set a clear and definite code of law regarding inheritance with the help of all clan chiefs to make sure a situation like this doesn't happen again.
