The battle around Emma raged on: Lawrence and Christmas formed a duo in which the former appeared to be doing most of the work with his shotgun, with an injured Hazel flying to their defense. The glitter appeared to have had a greater effect on Hazel than on the others. She didn't want to think about what Kusari and Sander were doing. She had been warned about the nature of his power but it was unsettling all the same. Emma considered joining her roommates (and Christmas), but before she could do so she needed to worry about the enemy in front of her. She had learned two lessons in the last sortie (Despite her inexperience Emma was in fact able to analyze the last engagement and evaluate her effectiveness): If she wished for her Tulpas to undergo more complex action she would have to command them herself, for example they will not use their powers independently. The other piece of information she had picked up was their fragility- of course they were entirely expendable but it would still be preferable if they did not die faster than she could muster up the emotion to summon them. With this now under Emma's consideration Determination and Devotion once again appeared in front of her, the charging dogs closing in. She had a solid plan of attack, or at least one she had perceived as solid: "Devotion, turn the ground into sludge in front of us! A-and determination, when the wolves reach it try to take them all out!" Emma's voice was unsurprisingly still shaky and unsuited for command, but her Tulpas complied all the same.
