No artifacts in this one. In the games they were created by experimentation in psychic powers gone awry, and by an entity called the "C-Consciousness," neither of which exist here. (In the book it was alien technology and in the movie it was just....magic, I guess.)

It's just mutants, bandits, radiation, and a whole lot of violent, antisocial personalities.
