Chaos/Kefka/Zidane/Marche (Past) Edge of Madness
"S i l e n c e!" Chaos' voice rang through the head of every individual before him; All four of his fists clenched as he crossed his arms, staring down at these foolish warriors. They acted like children; They were almost irritating enough that he didn't want them, regardless of their power: It wasn't too late to wipe the slate clean of these pathetic pawns and just do everything himself. Though he knew that he'd perish, doing such a thing. So he'd have to tolerate them. For now. "I would suggest you mind yourselves." Chaos said, tone calm. "No matter how major you see your own struggles as, they are nothing compared to the battle before you. Some of you think highly of yourselves; As gods, ascended beings... But here, you are not as high on the scale as you once assumed." "Are you implying for yourself to be stronger than me?!" Kefka questioned, before bursting out into laughter; That's hilarious! He thought he was anything compared to the God of Magic himself? Kefka would wipe the floor with Chaos and take over this show for himself if he pleased! Kefka was about to speak again, even having raised a hand in correction momentarily, but was cut off as Chaos began again; "I never simply imply, jester." Chaos corrected, glaring downwards at his pawns. "While I am strongly against it, I could crush every bone in your body with ease; And squeeze out all of that precious magic as you hopelessly watch." Chaos threatened Kefka with the same voice he used casually; Not treating the jester as anything more than a fly in his domain. Kefka's hand fell. "... Well, then." He muttered, noting the magic inside Chaos was immense; Maybe he had some idea of what he was talking about. Kefka didn't feel like getting into an all-out battle between himself and whoever decided to side with this fool. While he wasn't one to take orders, he'd listen for the moment. He didn't like it though. "This could extend to those who wish to join him." Chaos added, towards Jegran in particular. Zidane held back a laugh, but let a small snicker escape. "Pfft. You guys got in trouble." He whispered to himself, amused. "Now, if you are done being loudmouthed fools..." Chaos shifted his head; Ready to address one of the more interesting individuals he had picked; Mateus. Not only a strong individual in his own right, he always was the easiest to string along. "You have been brought here for a simple purpose; To fight against light. Beyond those that wish to strike you down in your small worlds, true Light exists here in the form of an entity known as Cosmos." Shifting his form, one of his hands rests upon the hilt of his blade. "Cosmos' light reaches to many places, beyond what you may be able to understand. Her light gifts those who seek to stop your plans, whatever they might have been, with enough power to overcome you; Against what seems to be all odds." "'Light' is actually sounding really tough right now..." Zidane quietly spoke to himself, considering what the beast said. Who'd want to stop him, anyways? And from what? This whole 'Terra' business in his head was all he could think of; Who would want to prevent him from saving whatever that was? Someone dastardly, or was it more complicated than that? Zidane was more confused than before, but figured whatever was trying to stop him from figuring out what was happening in his head needed to be defeated at all costs. Otherwise this would just keep bothering him forever. Marche, while not as much of a talker as the rest of the boastful group around him, was thinking about everything. If what this being said was true, then that would mean that this 'Cosmos' was a power possibly aiding in the prevention of him going home. Just like Ritz and Mewt, and even his own brother, Doned... They aimed to stop him from restoring their home, and this being wished to do the same? He'd done so much just to try and stop everyone's dream; To wake them up and restore his home. He just wanted to go back; Go to school, get in a snowball fight. See his mother. Why did it have to be so complicated? "So if we defeat this Cosmos," Marche spoke up; Being the first to address Chaos' words. "What will happen?" Chaos stared down at the boy; Expression not shifting. "If Cosmos is defeated, we all benefit. Without Cosmos' light; All of our goals can be met; Whatever they may be." "Even... Restoring a world?" Marche questioned, hopeful. Chaos' nodded slowly. "Once Cosmos is slain, anything is possible if your will is powerful enough." Kefka laughs loudly, one hand on his gut; Another over his eyes. He reels back momentarily, before removing the hand from his face and looking at Marche. "'Restore'?! Pathetic! Once this 'Cosmog'-" "Cosmos," Zidane corrected. "Whatever it's called!" Kefka shouted, spit flying from his mouth and landing onto the ground in front of him. "Once that pest is slain, I'll destroy everyone left in my World of Ruin... Before finding and destroying your world next!" "D-Destroy? You want your world destroyed?" Marche questioned, eyes wide. Just who was he working with, here? Kefka calmed down, ever so slightly; But stared at Marche like he was an idiot. "Of course! There is no value in life! Everything ends; I'm just speeding up the clock!" He explained it without hesitation, turning to face away from Marche. "There is no value in life. So why should it exist? I'll destroy everything! Starting for a second time with this 'Cosmos'!" "Jeez, one-track minded." Zidane quipped, sighing. "It is not as simple as destroying Cosmos, jester." Chaos intervened. "Just as I have summoned all of you, Cosmos has summoned Warriors of Light; Those who will fight for her. If you wish to defeat Cosmos, all of them must be eliminated. Do keep in mind while you might think of yourselves as able to accomplish this task easily, that Light can triumph when you least expect it; Leaving you as nothing but corpses that fill this realm." "So there's going to be a lot of fighting." Marche responded, seeming a bit saddened. "Indeed." Chaos said, confirming Marche's thoughts. "Alright then!" Zidane spoke up, getting himself a bit riled for the battle ahead. "If these guys are in the way, we'll swat 'em! Nothing is going to stop me from figuring out what I need to." Zidane seemed to be on board; If only for personal reasons. But nobody was truly loyal to Chaos; At least Zidane thought so. Everyone would surely be in it for themselves. Kefka, though still infuriated, confirmed his agreement. "It means there's more of them to fry; I'll gladly kill every last warrior 'Cosmos' has! It will be a good warm-up for finishing off a planet or two!" "I..." Marche paused, unsure of what to say. He wasn't promising anything; These guys seemed to be trouble. Was this right? This 'Cosmos' was seeking to stop him from going home- Or at least, aiding in him not going home; So it was right to stop Cosmos and her Warriors for that, right? He was doing all of this for a good reason; So working with these... Individuals, would probably work out. But why was he struggling to agree so much? Marche just wasn't sure if this was right. He'd never seen a Burmecian before, or something? That was hard for Freya to even think; As after the city they stood in was destroyed, Burmecians began spreading over the entire planet like... Literal rats. Maybe he just hadn't expected one of the Burmecians to actually remain in the city, or was surprised she was armed? It truly didn't matter, but she thought about what the true answer was as she stood there, silently. "...?" Behind the hair that fell into her eyes, Freya blinked at the sight of the man sheathing his weapon. He hadn't even requested she do the same; Which meant that he was, quite possibly, actually here peacefully. She calmed down, somewhat; The back-end of her spear against the ground as Freya continued to keep a firm grip; Just in case he pulled anything. Something about him kept her from being too nervous, however; Maybe it was some natural gift for him, or something he'd learned to do... Regardless, it existed; And while Freya didn't offer a smile, she did show relief as she released a deep breath she had taken. Her ears twitched at his gentle voice; Surprising, from a man who looked like he could evenly take on some of the finest knights in her lands. Listening to his small tale, Freya's head tilted somewhat, unsure of what he was saying. Baron...? Such a kingdom did not exist on Gaia; Freya knew that much. It was strange; Oddly enough, Freya had no knowledge of how she had gotten to Burmecia, either. Or of much else, honestly. It was frustrating, though she didn't express it aside from a minor tone crack. Shifting lightly, Freya took a moment to reply. "Baron...?" She repeated, not sensing a hint of deceit in his voice; He was serious, wasn't he? Wherever he was from, it was far beyond Freya's knowledge. "I have never heard of this place. 'Baron'." She replied, firm but not aggressive. "I apologize, Cecil." She added, apologetic tone leaking ever so slightly. Looking up again at the rain, she blinked. Everything was the same; But it felt... Different. The air tasted odd. It wasn't the fresh air from the rain she was used to. It was... Stale. Almost not worth trying to choke on; Compared to the usual freshness. What was this oddity in these ruins? Ones she was, through and through, familiar with? Did it have something to do with this man? Or did it go deeper than that? It was irritating not knowing. "It's rude to just let someone else give you their name, isn't it?" Freya questioned, not really waiting for an answer as she stood there, in the rain, continuing to speak: "I am Freya Crescent. Dragoon of Burmercia." She glanced about, for a moment. These lifeless ruins held nothing for her; Everything she cared for had been gone for a long time. Perhaps 'former' would be a good word to add to the front of that title; She had abandoned for her own reasons, after all. Such petty, emotional reasons. "So what can you tell me? About your kingdom?" Freya questioned, figuring maybe he meant somewhere more reasonable than a Kingdom that didn't exist. Some details would perhaps help clear things up a little. Because as of right now, neither of them would be getting anywhere. Freya intended to leave this place behind once again, after this interaction was over. This wasn't truly home anymore. Galuf blinked, looking at the man who was greeting him; Baron? That wasn't a familiar kingdom. Not in the First World, or the Second One which he resided in. Same went for Mist, whatever that was; Aside from actual Mist. Galuf disliked it. "Baron? Never heard of it!" Galuf exclaimed, with complete honesty. Just where the heck was he, anyways? Judging by his outfit, this youngster was a Dragoon; Galuf was only able to figure this out due to the powers granted by the Crystals; One of which had allowed Faris to become one for a time. His armor was a lot less skimpy, but that being said, he wasn't a cute girl; So he preferred his armor the way it was. "And I should know my kingdoms! Considering I myself am the King of Bal-" He paused, thinking for a moment. "Actually, I believe I'm 'Former' king now, considering the fact I... Well, died! I believe my granddaughter is the queen now." He spoke rather casually about having passed away; Seeming to not be concerned about it. The fact he was here, and alive, was probably making him look like a madman; Though Galuf had been known for being crazy anyways, just not... Coo-Coo in the head crazy. With an irritated sigh, she lowered her map and looked up at the sky beyond the trees; Irritated. "If there's a way out, just give me a sign or something!" She shouted at the sky; Eyes widening as she saw it; A tree! In the air! She gasped, and winced as the tree crashed into the ground; Somewhere slightly west of her current location. "Well if that wasn't a sign, I don't know what is!" Ritz said with excitement, beginning to walk towards the crash site of the tree. It couldn't have been too far, with how loud the tree had been. But what could have thrown it? That worried Ritz somewhat, but she knew she could take care of herself; So it wasn't overly worrying. As she trekked, Ritz remained cautious; She kept a hand close to her Rapier, for the sake of not getting surprised. Whatever she found at that tree, she'd be ready for it. She was somewhat on edge as she approached the crash site carefully; Staying fairly quiet. [@Shoryu Magami][@Gohan]
